Oh my...wish I would have been with some of you folks today! Thanksgiving is not celebrated here...
Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. Do y'all personally celebrate?

This looks good. I don't eat potato salad because I can't stand salad dressing or mayo. A Cuban recipe.
Papas Aplastadas (Crushed Potatoes)
15 small red potatoes, unpeeled
4 bacon slices, chopped
1 cup chopped green bell pepper
3 garlic cloves, minced
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
3/4 cup chopped green onion
1/2 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
Boil potatoes in lightly salted water 15 minutes or until tender; drain and cool slightly.
Cook bacon in a medium skillet over medium-high heat 3 minutes or until crisp. Remove bacon, reserving drippings in skillet. Add bell pepper to skillet; sauté 4 minutes or until tender. Add garlic, cook 1 more minute, and turn off heat.
Place cooled potatoes on a lightly greased jelly-roll pan. Using the palm of your hand or the smooth side of a meat mallet, crush the potatoes (just enough to break them open). Drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with cumin, salt, and pepper. Top with bacon, cooked bell pepper and garlic, green onion, and cheeses. Broil 5 minutes or until cheese melts.
I just have to say that this recipe is the bomb!!! I'm going to make this again today!!!!! I cut the Cumin back to 1 tsp. My opinion would be that the extra 1/2 teaspoon would overpower the other flavors.

Sounds wonderful!

Don't know what to think about this one! Prunes? LOL!
Devils on Horseback
8 slices bacon, cut into thirds
24 prunes or dates, pitted
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with foil. Wrap bacon pieces around prunes and secure with toothpicks. Bake on sheet until bacon is browned, about 15 minutes, flipping halfway through. Serve warm.
What about substituting with pitted Dates?
I finally made these today! Okay, my husband actually made them.
He used pitted Dates and cut the bacon in half for each piece.
OMG!!!!! These are absolutely amazing!!!!!! I'm going to make these to go with Christmas Breakfast!!!!

Had these at an event about a year ago. Totally hooked.

Blanch fresh green beans in salted water until about half cooked. Drain. Microwave bacon strips also until about half cooked. Grab a handful of green beans, wrap the bacon around it and secure with a round toothpick.
In a saucepan, combine a stick of butter, about a 1.5 cups of brown sugar and six minced garlic cloves. (This should make enough sauce to cover 6-8 bundles.) Cook over medium-low heat. After the butter and sugar melt, continue to cook for about 10 minutes so that the flavors combine.
Pour sauce over green bean bundles and bake at 350 for about 15-20 minutes. You'll know that they're done when the bacon has browned and the beans are tender.
The sauce melts to a very liquid state in the oven. Make sure that you baste the bundle before serving.
we had uppity green beans to lunch today! LOL
