Not every Apple users' phone, just this one. And that is not unreasonable as Apple has opened the 70, and hasn't denied the charge that they have. So, it is possible to open this one phone. Apple is using this issue as a public relations issue, and they are just wrong.

PO, the Judge's order isn't for this ONE phone; it's to create a skeleton key of sorts to give the government so it can access any and all iPhones. It'd be nice if the order was for just one, but it's not.
The previous times Apple was asked to open an iPhone, the order was for a single phone and didn't not include the order to create and surrender this software to the government.

Ted Cruz's comment said, when asked by Anderson Cooper, "Apple, was asked to open this phone, not Anderson’s phone, not everyone’s here, open this phone.”
That indicates to me that he is aware that Apple has already opened around 70 phones, and this ONE phone is not impossible to open. He didn't say he thought Apple should create a backdoor.

Re: Sen. Ted Cruz Makes It Official
Ted Cruz's full speech at the Conservative Review Convention tonight and it was stellar!!!!
Marco Rubio pulled out 5 minutes before he was to go on. He decided he didn't want to face the grassroots tonight and went on Megyn Kelly with his Establishment endorser Nikki Haley who is on record saying, January 2016, "Marco Rubio 'believes' in Amnesty."

Then Cruz didn't read or doesn't know the Judge's order.
Forget about the 70 phones, this is being mentioned as though it means something. It doesn't. Those were a different order without the extra demand added by this Judge.
This Judge's order demanded not ONLY that Apple open ONE phone, but that it supply the US government with software which will compromise Apple's security and allow the government to hack into any and every iPhone it wants to.
And we know this government will hack into and surveil its citizens without warrant.

What it MEANS, from a PR standpoint, is that the APPLE phones can be opened. It MEANS Apple is using this issue as a PR stunt so as not to hurt their brand. The truth is, they have opened individual phones for authorities. They haven't denied it and they can do it again. So, they need to stop pretending they would open a back door, the door is already there.

Re: Sen. Ted Cruz Makes It Official
Well said! This has been my point all along concerning Ted Cruz.
Quote:
Conservatives Must Not Squander This Opportunity
The grass roots believed that even conservative Republicans were too feckless or ineffective to oppose Obama's agenda, and many are overreacting and choosing Trump. They don't seem too concerned about whether he is a reliably consistent conservative, or about his record of supporting many liberal causes.
How ironic that Ted Cruz is being punished by people because few of his colleagues would stand with him against the establishment. He has, with his actions, demonstrated himself to be a far sharper thorn in the establishment's side than Trump and his rhetoric. Cruz is the guy that stood up to the establishment from the inside and proved he could not be pressured by his peers to go along to get along. Isn't that what the grass roots have been craving all these years?

Apple did it though. You don't seem to understand. The Judge wants Apple to give their PRIVATE, PROPRIETARY software to the government so good old uncle can use it whenever he goes on a bender.
Unless you've listened to Bernie too much and become a socialist, private companies should not be forced to do something like this.

Re: Sen. Ted Cruz Makes It Official
How Scalia and Ted Cruz Saved the 2nd Amendment
What few people know -- and the media won’t remind them -- is that Ted Cruz was a prime mover in getting Heller, in which Scalia wrote the majority opinion, before the Court and decided in favor of gun rights, ruling that the right to keep and bear arms was an individual right and that the word “militia”, as the Founders intended, meant the “whole people” of the United States. If Heller had gone the other way, our gun rights would have been thrown on the ash heap of history.

Then they need to stop playing games and give up the information on the phone. They can extract the information and hand it over to the necessary authoritites. They don't have to give their private, proprietary software to the gov't. If they have opened 70 phones, they can open this one.
They are just trying to protect their bogus image of being the most secure company on the market. Apparently were are finding out that is not so true, aren't we? And that is the real issue everyone seems to want to gloss over.

Re: Sen. Ted Cruz Makes It Official
Cruz’s Law Students Loved Him
Teacher evaluations asked the students to rate Cruz on a five-point scale with regard to how well his course on Supreme Court litigation was organized (Cruz received 4.8), how effectively he communicated information (4.9), allowing the students freedom of expression (4.9) and how much the student thought the course was of value (5.0). The course was given a unanimous 5.0 rating.
