No! The bible says TEST the spirits whether they be of God and that there are a lot of deceivers. God won't fault me for being skeptical especially when all you supposedly did was give a vague statement to a large group of people that could cover a lot of bases. Im telling that is what psychics do too. They generalize and get a hit and then work it.
Now come along and speak something specific to one specific person that nobody but that person knew about...that's a different story.
Act 5:1 But a man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property,
Act 5:2 and with his wife's knowledge he kept back for himself some of the proceeds and brought only a part of it and laid it at the apostles' feet.
Act 5:3 But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the land?
Act 5:4 While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? Why is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God."
Act 5:5 When Ananias heard these words, he fell down and breathed his last. And great fear came upon all who heard of it.

Must a prophesy or Word of Knowledge pass your inspection?

No, it must pass HIS inspection!
Deu 18:19 And whoever will not listen to my words that he shall speak in my name, I myself will require it of him.
Deu 18:20 But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in my name that I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die.'
Deu 18:21 And if you say in your heart, 'How may we know the word that the LORD has not spoken?'--
Deu 18:22 when a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the LORD has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not be afraid of him.
Like I said, psychics have been deceiving the gullible and emotionally unstable for years and years by "speaking", generalized verbage and getting hits then working those hits.

I've known some ministers who were polite in doing this and not laying too many details on front street for the sake of the individual they whose mail they are reading.

Tell it to them in private then or whisper in their ear.
Personally I don't believe God intended the gifts to be used that way, in a one man show, walking around the room with hopeful sheeple looking on expecting a sign. It's fertile ground for just that kind of psychic like reading. People are emotionally expecting and often willing to hear anything.
Sorry but I've seen way to many fakes and I am well aware of the gimicks they use AND I have experienced the genuine personally so I know this sort of stuff happens
