How did they know they could get that much? Right! They found out a little about the offices he holds. Who told him that? Right! The Plantiff. Who told the Plaintiff that she could up her ante on the settlement if she had some medical attention? A lawyer doesn't TELL you to do these things, but they can makes awesome subtle suggestions.
"Medical attention?" What "medical attention" would she have required to be innocent of adultery and all the rest?

The medical attention was counseling and medication. I see that quite a bit in order to obtain a higher settlement.

We are only speculating, of course, but who in the world is going to step forth and say, "Yeah! I was with her." No one needed to do that because her case rested on the fact that she said she had not engaged in adultery.

Now, the first paragraph on the first page of this thread brings up the "bikini" incident. That news article would not know to include that in the article IF it was not part of the case. Therefore, we have to say that someone was under oath to bring forth this fact. We have to think that they said "I swear to the tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God." Or they laid their hand on that Bible and lied through their teeth.

My husband said that IF he knew I was dressed in a bathing suit, by a pool, with another man, he would believe I was committing adultery. I am thinking the husband was in the same frame of mind. He considered it adultery.

Being in a bikini at a pool with a man that is not your husband is not adultery, but it is a step in that direction.

Thank you, DbD. With so many people misunderstanding what I was trying to say, I was starting to wonder if I was typing in Greek. I never explored the question of whether or not a bikini was actually worn, because it wouldnt matter either way, the pastor would be no more, nor less wrong had the alleged bikini been worn or not. Perhaps Pel misunderstood my mention of adultery. It is the Pastor's daughter and Mr. Rider who are guilty of fornication and adultery , according to my understanding of the scriptures concerning marriage and divorce, not the alleged bikini woman. And yet, I want to make it clear that I am not in any way compromising biblical holiness standards concerning modesty. It is for that reason (to avoid accusations of compromise) that I speak my views concerning the wearing of revealing clothing - which includes but by no means is limited to bikinis - in general, not as a direct accusation against the plaintiff. For, as Pel wisely indicates, there is no evidence that she actually wore a bikini, only that her ex-husband and her former pastor accused her of it.

And let us - Yes, I realize I too am one of "us" - remember this is a public forum. Therefore, we too should be circumspect in what we say on the matter here, and all matters, in general. Here too, one can make a bad situation worse by saying the wrong thing...or even saying the right thing the wrong way...or even by failing, or forgetting, to say the right thing...such as "alleged" and "in general".
