Yes, it is possible and entirely probable that all was not right in the heart of this lady in the bikini. However, we don't have all the information as to the relationship between all the parties involved (bikini lady, her husband, mutual friend and mutual friend's husband). My husband would be aghast if he saw me at a pool in a bikini and there were men (or a man) there! Not sure he would accuse me of adultery, but he for sure wouldn't like it.
You're right ........... all parties involved (pastor, divorced wife and divorced husband) didn't handle things properly.
HOWEVER, I think that if you stop and REALLY think about it, you will understand the point that most people on here have been trying to make.....
You've been around Pentecost long enough to know that some people's "convictions" change when it is their child or grandchild involved. Most likely (not fact, but an assumption on most everyone's part), is that this pastor made a huge mistake by trying to reconcile his previous "convictions" and teachings regarding divorce and remarriage to justify his daughter's involvement with a divorced man. I've seen it happen more than once....

That may be true, but just because the article states that was what was going on, are we going to, emphatically, take that view as well? I'm not willing to do that. I feel uncomfortable, as though, something is being left out. Something doesn't feel right to me.

Yeah - I agree. Not sure what all the stuff he said had to do with my post. Maybe the last line regarding the "get out of jail free" card.... ?

And I feel equally uncomfortable labeling the bikini wearer as a fornicator.

I agree in that when it comes down to it nearly everything has been left out, detail wise.
However I find it funny (and sad) that an episode involving a bikini has been the prime area of debate and the real story is one of slander, lawsuits, and white washing a daughters actions with a divorcee to a conservative congregation.

The facts just get in the way. We need to go on "discernment", heart peeking, hunches, feelings, what ifs and bowel movements in such matters.

I agree - I'm not "emphatically" taking that view - I'm sure that the media didn't give the full version and that we ARE missing a whole lot of facts!
I don't know any of the parties involved - so I can't really speculate on the whys and wherefores of any of their actions and/or words.
I'm going to bow out by simply saying that none of us on this forum know the full truth of all that happened to bring these people to divorce.
Bottom line - I am sad that the Pastor ( for whatever reason) named this lady from the pulpit and made the statements that he did - whether she attended his church or not and whether his daughter dated and/or married the man. JMHO
