So This Is What The Clark Brothers Are Up To!!
Waching American Idol in a hotel room tonight and Carrie Underwood just introduced the group "Sons of Sylvia" who are touring with us all this year.
I had never heard of them but I certainly recognized them. The group is Ashley, Austin, and Adam Clark formerly of the Clark Family Band and The Clark Family Experience.
They have a Oneness Pentecostal background with their father being a preacher I believe.
It was interesting tonight that their new sound is not country but some kind of uh....ah....I don't know. I guess pop.
They are an incredibly talented family. Many more brothers than these three and I believe all play various instruments quite well. Back around 2000 I went to the taping of a TV special in Nashville that they were guest stars on with more brothers as "The Clark Family Experience". They had toured with Tim McGaw and gotten a record deal with Mike Curb. Sadly it did not go anywhere and they ended up declaring bankruptcy to get out of their record contract.
I saw them a couple of times visiting Christ Church. At the time my daughter was single but not there and I was hoping she could have met them. Good looking brothers!!

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

There was an American Idol knockoff show called, "The Next Great American Band." The Clark Brothers won and they were AMAZING. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled after one season and nothing happened with the Clarks.
My understanding was that Freddy Clark, the dad, was actually a trinitarian, although many oneness churches used him. He would preach until midnight and then do the Christian 900 psychic hotline stuff. But I loved The Clarks on that show. VERY impressive.
You have to check this out. Amazing.

Anyone remember Freddy Clark and son ministering at Thad's church? We all watched it (streaming) here a couple years ago.
That was big time entertaining! LOL!

knot,
I had forgotten they had participated in that other talent show until you reminded me. I never saw it but some had posted about it on here I believe.
Commercial success is so randam. A group of brothers so incredibly talented can't seem to break through to widespread commerical success while I turn the radio dial in my truck and hear the lamest songs / musicians that are popular. The worst Clark family song is probably ten times better than the best rap song.

No, he is oneness, I know him personally. He went to a trinitarian bible school, and ate the meat and threw away the trinitarian bones, as he put it. His father and his father-in-law (Sylvia's dad) were also very oneness.

I missed that! I can only imagine. I have heard he is quite the character. Very dramatic.

Re: So This Is What The Clark Brothers Are Up To!!
Here is some of the scoop, believe it or not lol.Freddy is originally from Maine, little town called Mars Hill, his dads name was Mac cant remember his moms name. They attended church in Presque Isle Maine and Bro Harold Fulton was pastor, tremendous guitarist the closest to Dwayne Friend i ever seen,ALJC at first, then upc.Freddy married Sylvia and attended Zion Bible Institute she is related to the man who runs that .They then moved south where all the children 11 i think ,the last two twin girls were born, they can do it all too, they will tell you the girls probably have the most talent if you can imagine. He toured for many years all over Maine and New Brunswick, his dad moved to NB at one time ,doing revival tent meetings in a tent, calling people out etc.An amazing family, they can all play about anything he would make them play and then testify at home from very young ages, Freddy can play more than one instrument at the same time mouth organ and what ever.he is oneness. They also did like blue grass festivals and fairs in the south all the time.I saw them a couple years ago at camp cant tell you who the boys were that were with them .ALL the names begin with A Alan being the oldest i think.I believe they attend Bro Ron Bectons when they can.

Right. Joseph Crandal (sp?) is his father in law, Sylvia's dad. Joe suffered much from his oneness conviction after he received revelation of it. Freddy worked with Joe quite a bit in Joe's Bible School.

Re: So This Is What The Clark Brothers Are Up To!!
We are in a hotel in St. Louis. I never get to watch the results night for AI, because I'm always at church, so tonight we did. When Carrie Underwood announced "Sons of Sylvia", I turned to Eddie and said I wondered if it was the Clark Brothers. I was really kidding, but it really was!! They do have a great sound - I hope they are continuing to be a good Christian influence in the business.
As for Freddie, he is "unusual", I will admit. Years ago, he preached at our church (with only his oldest son) and he went until about 2 AM. However, as weird and bluegrass as he is, we had a blind lady healed after midnight. Those who had left early wished that they had stayed.
