I don't see voting for someone as necessarily "supporting" them, in a sense that you are endorsing everything they do, say or believe in. In an election, you're limited to one of two choices, and usually NEITHER candidate has a clean slate. It's just a strategic political choice that has to do with the government of our country, and in the large scheme of things, I don't believe a person's Christianity can be properly weighed by which person they voted for.
I do think it points to a mindset, but not necessarily an evil or unchristian mindset.
I understand your point, but I'm not ready to judge other folks' love for God based on whose name they checked on a ballot.
I don't know what else you would call a vote, but support for them???
I agree there is no way you can agree with all a candiate stands for. However, for ME I can't knowingly vote for someone that admits and promotes what God calls an abomination. Personally, I don't see how any christian can.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi boldly defended a move to add birth control funding to the new economic "stimulus" package, claiming "contraception will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government."

I think you got a point there, but then why are abortion folks so worried when a republican appoints a SJ???
I'm waiting for the first 'conservative" republican that doesn't go after the Southern white vote by being pro-life and anti-gay marriage, then acting as liberal as Ted Kennedy on fiscal/tax/min wage issues.
The vast majority have bought into the class-envy card and cannot articulate why a min wage is 'bad' or a strong progressive tax system is 'bad' or why universal health care (or universal anything) is 'bad'............
All they care about is the guy making a nickle more an hour then them needs to pay his "Fair Share!", and his health care expenses, and child tax credits, and every other bill that "he" can't afford.
Government makes alot of choices that interfere with folks lives or decisions, just a cop out to allo baby killing.
And the if the mother gonna die thing is so worn out, how often is that the case, been a nurse for 14 years and never heard of one case, not saying it doesn't.
But for that one case in a thousand, you absolutely don't care if her situation is politicized? If it were my wife, I'd have to argue that the choice as to if we'd abort or not should be ours and ours alone. Not yours and definitely not the government's.
If that's true, why in your abortion posts do you condemn the Democratic party without mentioning the Republican party and it's voters role in keeping abortion legal?
If we're going to assign blame, let's be sure to get it on everyone that bears some blame in the deal.
Very true. The Republicans are only "Pro-Life" in name only. They really don't care one bit. They've actually sabotaged bi-partisan legislation aimed at reducing the number of abortions and even sunk a Partial Birth abortion ban measure. They need the issue alive and well to maintain voters who are easily manipulated. That's why it's called a "wedge issue". It's designed to wedge out and secure a voting block. Considering the majority of Supreme Court Justices were appointed by Republicans and the abortion issue has gone nowhere we have to face the music. It's a GAME they are playing with the deaths of children to gain political power.
LOL Do you actaully read the post? I'm not a republican and never plan on being one. And if I was it can't be more evil then baby killing.
Who did you vote for?
I believe that people make life and death decisions every day. I'd much rather the choice to abort be in a parent's hands than an issue of politics and governmental power and manipulation. Maybe it's because I've been in the Army. I think there comes a point where you just have to place that power in people's hands and admonish them to use that power for good and not for evil.
That's "evil"?
Evil is a very strong word.
Still if that's the word you choose to use, then so be it. But...
How come you never seem to be so quick to describe the killing of unborn babies as evil?
I think the killing of the unborn is evil, a grave sin. However, I don't think the government will make things better, I think it will only make things worse. I believe that the vast majority of people want to do the right thing regarding this issue. If we preach the gospel and address the issues women face that cause them to consider abortion (poverty, abuse, neglect, etc.) we will do far more to save lives than merely passing a law and pretending that the problem's going away.
