I care because I love the UPC and I want it to succeed.

Cut the infomercials.

Put the pulpit at the center of the conference services.

Compress the service schedule into fewer days to lessen overhead and expenses for attenders.

Increase the value/cost ratio and you'll increase the crowds.

We're on the same page. Here are my ideas:

1) Move GC to the last week of July and combine it with youth congress.

2) Services for the youth will be seperate EXCEPT for Friday night. Make this the grand finale night of the conference and combine everyone together.

3) The reason for July:
A) It's vacation time for families and laity.
B) Youth congress is in august which is starting to infringe on school schedules.

3) The existing PMA concert is a joke. I am connected with several people who are in their 20s,30s, 40s. we all shake our head and laugh at how pathetic it is.
They also need to have late night musical concerts after the services in smaller venues. This would bring a lot of lay people to GC during the entire conference.

4) DO NOT charge for even services! This will be the final death blow to GC if the keep this up. only charge for daytime seminars.

Thanks, I've become accustomed to the "Well, you're NOT UPC so what you think doesn't matter. You're just bitter!". It's the knee jerk reaction of too many on the inside. Exit interviews are just as helpful and needful as internal evaluation.

I'd like to come back to the UPC someday. But alot needs to change in order for me to feel like I'd be accepted and valued. One can only hope though.

Stereotypes are not always accurate, neither are they always inaccurate. In fact, more accurate usually. Pardon the exceptions.

This has not been my experience with most ex-UPC people that I know. Even those that some would label 'bitter' are people that usually have been wounded and the source of their 'bitterness' is usually a deep love for the UPC. You don't mourn or react against something that you don't care about. Most ex-UPC people that I know, and there are MANY, love the UPC but they for a variety of reason could not in good conscience stay. I have heard as much love for the UPC sitting around a dinner table of former UPC people as I hear from the pulpit at GF. The biggest problem, in my experience, is the general 'excommunicative' attitudes we receive from people still in the UPC.There are exceptions, but that is generally the rule overall.
