The UPC has not been perfect. I've heard some absolute

The thread was an appreciation thread...

And, despite all the naysayers, THAT is why the ministry of you and your husband is blessed.
When we can remember with a grateful heart those who brought us over and showed us the Way, IMO it is an honorable thing.

Re: UPC Appreciation Thread
I pprecite the UPC though I have never been UPC. I have been to exactly 2 UPC churches in my life. One in Florida (revival) and one in Tennessee (installing AC system). The UPC, whether I agree with everything or not has been on the forefront of sending the Gospel around the world. There are missionaries in different parts of the world because the UPC put them there, There are churches around the world, some big, some not so big, that wouldn't be there had it not been for the strength and resources of the UPC. Gospel literature has been sent to the 4 corners because the UPC had the good sense to use whatever means at their disposal (and within the confines of their convictions) to publish the Gospel. Search for Truth lessons has reached into places where no preacher could go and have brought souls into God's Kingdom.
No I don't agree with everything the UPC does (or does not do), but I do appreciate the organization as a whole. And one thing I can really say I apprciate the UPC for: Thanks for producing some fine Christian folks, some who may no longer be UPC, many of which are right here on AFF.

Re: UPC Appreciation Thread
There are a number of reasons I appreciate the UPC as an organization:
1) I honestly believe that, right or wrong, those at the top levels have motives for the most part that are pure and honorable. Yes, I'm sure that there are some whose motives are selfishly driven. But that is true in every organization whether religious or secular. I still believe that the vast majority who are serving are serving because they love the Lord.
2) I also believe that MOST pastors are pastoring because they love God and they love His people. That doesn't mean I think they are all perfect. Nor do I believe that all Methodist pastors or all Catholic priests or all doctors or all grocery store clerks are perfect. NONE are perfect.
My experience has been that when a pastor is strict, almost always he is that way because he loves his people and he believes that is what it will take to make it into heaven. (I don't agree with that. But that's his motivation). How can you find fault with someone who loves enough to endure what he is going to have to endure just for taking the stand he believes is right and necessary?
3) and most important for me - I've made lots and lots of wonderful friends in the UPC. The UPC is the vehicle that brought us together. For that I am grateful. That includes, by the way, many on this forum.

Preach it Margie. What a great testimony for all apostolics.

Re: UPC Appreciation Thread
The UPC is all I have ever known.
I am a 4th generation Pentecostal and it has been in this organization that my family has always been.
It is not perfect, nothing man made ever is. But it is imo the best vehicle that we have in propagating the gospel to the world. It is not the only vehicle, but the best.
I am an ordained minister in the UPC and am proud of its stand on the Godhead, Salvation, and Seperation.
God bless the United Pentecostal Church!
