Every Yahoo there was climbed out from under a rock to come together for her funeral. That sounds like the ecumenical, secular, political extravaganza. That's the longest some of those people have spent in church (if they stay there the whole service) collectively, in the last 30 years!

Jesus couldn't get them there that long, but Aretha Franklin can.. And Louis Farrakhan, no way..

Any Pastors or ministers on AFF who have conducted a funeral at the church they Pastor? I'm wondering what would you do if faced with a funeral at which the family wants someone like a Farrakhan or Sharpton, etc to speak? Or if the deceased's family wanted a Catholic Priest or Hindu Monk or Trinitarian minister to offer a eulogy or prayer, what would you do?

I would have an issue with allowing it if I Pastored a church which was hosting the funeral. I believe I would attempt to have the funeral service held at a different location instead.

A Georgia pastor's eulogy of Aretha Franklin has sparked criticism from some people who accused him of being homophobic, sexist and demeaning to other black people.
The Rev. Jasper Williams Jr. of the Salem Bible Church in Atlanta touched on Franklin's life and career but also criticized black-on-black crime and said single mothers are incapable of raising sons by themselves. He said black America has lost its soul and that it's "now time for black America to come back home."
