I haven't changed my view. I just needed to explain it to you. Politicians want your tax money to spend.
Big Box Marts want all the customers to make money
Politicians find ways to take more tax money and spend it
Big Box Marts find ways to have more customers, make more money and spend less doing it.
And if you had just saw my point a few days ago we could have agreed on THIS point

That so many Democrats are for this is outrageous enough — but if the GOP can’t even stand against more government and taxes, what is the point, exactly, of even having a Republican Party?

I'm sure we walked past each other, at the beginning, our focus being on the issue we saw as paramount - you saw the tax revenue and I was looking at the Corporatist angle. Both issues are involved in this bill.

Re: Internet Sales Tax Passes - Senate Vote Count
Lots of people makign comments and jabs at Walmart who don't know what they are talking about. ONce again, my wife works there. Has for nearly 9 years. I see firsthand how they are. Contrary to the common jibjab, they have good benefits, pay above minimum wage and are good the the employees WHO ACTUALLY WORK HARD.
They aren't as good to the typical bum who expects great things just for showing up, but if you work hard they take care of you.

No one is arguing the benefits and wages. You claimed Obama hates Walmart. I showed he couldn't possibly hate Walmart, because of its support of his policies. You didn't respond to that, because you can't. Obama's a big Walmart fan, and Walmart's owners LOVE Obama.
And I do know what I'm talking about; how Walmart gets the prices it gets; the take it or go bankrupt style of negotiating they employ against manufacturers; how they sell cheap Chinese-manufactured products over American-made brands (something the founder would be furious about, since he started Walmart with the desire to sell American-made products); how they wield considerable lobbying influence in Congress (as shown with this bill).

I agree with this if only because of the sheer amount of people who shop there who are incapable of pushing their carts to one of the cart corals in the parking lot EVEN when it is literally 10 feet away. Instead they just leave them in the parking space next to where they parked.

They sell the same brands at Walmart that they sell everywhere else. Good lord. You don't go into walmart and see shelves upon shelves of goods that aren't also on the shelves in Kroger, Target, Giant Eagle, Kohls, etc. and just like those places, they happen to have their own "in store" brands.
They aren't doing anything at Walmart that isn't done at every other successful chain of stores.
I didn't comment on your policy post about Walmart and Obama b/c I haven't checked it for accurracy. My gut says it is a sham, like the rest of your anti-Walmart rhetoric.

If I were able I would strike those people with lightning when I see them do that. Walk it to the corral you bum! LOL.

I can see this is going nowhere. It is a fact that Walmart started the business practice and used is considerable purchasing power to wield influence over prices. And the result is that it hurts American jobs and American manufacturing. Argue all you want, but the facts are there.

You should check your gut. It's not a sham, neither were the rest of my statements about Walmart. I'm not offended though. I used to be just like you. Anyone that would try to say something about Walmart, I'd laugh off and tell them they were crazy. Then I actually started looking into it, and found they were right.
Here's some sources:
- $2.4 mil so far this year on lobbying Link
- Lobbying Marketplace fairness act of 2013 Link
Walmart previously lobbied for Marketplace Equity Act of 2011 (same premise, different name) 30 reports - highest lobbying effort on the bill.
Link
- Dodd Frank transaction fee - Walmart's lobbying efforts paid off BIG with Senator Durbin and his ex-aides who work for the Podesta Group Link
Donni Turner and Melissa Merz were Sen. Durbin's aides and worked for Podesta Group who received $440,000 in Lobbying funds that year Link
- Higher minimum wage - Walmart lobbied heavily for it. Idea is if they can raise minimum wage, they can also raise the prices of their products, and thereby increase revenue by an estimated 1.3BILLION per year. Link
- Support for the employer mandate of Obamacare. Link
Take some time, read over that and tell me what your gut says afterwards.
