Question - how did Jesus say we would know His disciples? There was a dress code or certain way they'd look, right?

The first two sentences are sad and completely incorrect. The last I will agree with - there is only one plan of SALVATION. That is absolutely biblical. However, that one is lost, leaving the truth or leaving God behind simply by leaving an Apostolic Pentecostal church is not true.

I've been reading a lot lately about Azusa Street, and the lead up to the outpouring of the spirit. The outpouring at Azusa Street was NOT limited to AP churches. Baptists, Lutherans, Methodists all were part of that revival. Men with beards and mustaches, women with jewelry all received and were part of that revival. There wasn't this animosity between denominations, or any concern over dress standards that we have now. They believed in water and spirit baptism. They were steadfastly against sectarianism and man-made organizations.

I'm convinced the UPC and other con organizations will be sitting on the sidelines, arms folded when the next great revival comes; because they're too stuck on sectarianism and their man-made, non-biblical dress standards.

Quote:
"But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit."
Quote:
"Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all."
The only hope for any kind of outpouring of God's spirit like what happened at Azusa Street is for sectarianism and denominations to cease, and people coming together as one.

The church isn't a thing. It's not a belief. It's not a building. It's not a sect or creed. Your definition is wrong and not according to the Bible. God's people are the church.

Did this particular guy request that every one call him "Masta" or "Boss" or at least "Mr. Pastor" as well when talking to him? Because it sure sounds like he fancied himself a plantation owner and all "his flock" his slaves.

Nah. We called him Bro. _______, but he did expect obedience. He once told me (when I was considering taking a job in another state) that I could not leave his church unless I married because I was born again there....

So what ever happened there? DID you leave his church by marrying and moving out of state? LOL I'm pretty sure he was also the type who expected permission to marry so all he had to do was not grant it, thus keeping you there.

Yes, you had him pegged right.

But...when I did marry, we just told him we were going to get married.

My new husband decided that after we marry, we were going to attend the church he attended because there was a "memphis mess" at the church I attended. We didn't want to start out our marriage in the middle of a mess.

Re: I love not being Apostolic!!!

My walking away from the Apostolic Church happened after years of "mess" and it is amazing the stories about us that come back to us. People who rarely talked to us while we were in the Apostolic church or asked us why we left spread stories about us why they thought we left.
