Re: Prominent Memphis Area Pastor Resigns
I'm hoping and praying that not only does TPC of Memphis survive this mess, but thrives!

I was hoping that Bro. Kilgore would be able to be there for a while. God will send someone.

Re: Prominent Memphis Area Pastor Resigns
You said this so very well. It scares me that we, the Apostolic Church, have created this money driven ministry. Aside from all the shouting, isle running, and talking in tongues, its hard not to deny this is a big money game. I'm embarressed.

Re: Prominent Memphis Area Pastor Resigns
I have sat back..silently and read all of these forums. My heart is breaking for all of the people involved. I know Bro. Black and I know the church family. I will say that anyone that knows Bro. Black knows that he is a good, Godly man. Has ANYTHING been proven? Everyone on here is assuming that it has.
Then, if these accusations are proven to be true, then I hope that we as the Apostolic church, would embrace him and his family and hold them up. He preached restoration and love...straight from the bible. We as christians are so quick to throw away people just because they fall. God uses broken people-not because of the their failure, but because of their ability to be molded into what HE wants. People fall, GREAT men fall. Some great men never get caught....point is PEOPLE are PEOPLE. This should not be a gossip site. Terry Black has done far too many good things for people- That should not be lost in all of this.

Good post, Hizzangel. I'm going to object to the bolded statement, though. It has been pointed out that there is no hard evidence to back up the accusations at this point, as far as I know, there was no public confession, and anonymous users posting accusations online do not amount to "evidence" of anything. Those who are interested in fairness will not come to conclusions or repeat anything as fact without real evidence, and some people won't repeat things even if they are facts.

I believe what we do have to accept is that the board apparently has enough evidence to do what they feel is in the best interest of the church.

Correct. Obviously there is a problem of some sort. Of that much, we can all be sure. The nature of it, though, seems to be up for some debate.

Re: Prominent Memphis Area Pastor Resigns
Here's a suggestion. Why doesn't the man who allegedly failed in the man made system of which he was a part actually get a job and preach for free? What a concept, proclaiming the gospel without selling anything, taking up multiple 'offerings' or having fund drives to support a bigger, newer, better-than-the-competition 'church'.
Would the guy even consider proclaiming the gospel without money being involved in it?

That was my point on the "other" thread. Some people will never see such a concept.
Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
( Matthew 10:8)
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
( Romans 8:32)
And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
(Revelation of John 21:6)
Apparently with flesh and blood, nothing is free. Not even the Word.
