Re: Falla's Gma, First to Obey Apostolic Message
Sis, I appreciate the posts of your heritage. For the greater part of my adult years (Ha! Only the last 13 years), I've always gravitated toward those of my grandparents' generation: the stories they tell growing up were those of many hardships, how those hardships toughened them up, but most of all how their faith carried them through all of it. Senior citizens may be tossed to the side by many from my generation (your grandchildren's age), but I can assure you there will come a day where stories like this will never be told they way you've told them, possibly because as time moves forward details become more vague. And, even scarier, that these same stories may never be told again because they don't seem as important from one generation to another. Hopefully, that will not become the case in your family tree. It doesn't appear that will happen anytime soon. Your family is so large, I still have a hard time keeping up with who's who (hahaha!). But, nevertheless, when I hear either your maiden name or married name in conversation with others, I think of that large family that originated just around the corner and down the road from me...

Re: Falla's Gma, First to Obey Apostolic Message
In Rev.7:14
And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
I have thought about the above verse and wondered what it was speaking of. In lieu of Jesus' words in John 16:33, "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Grandma Lizzie and Pa - What did they go through. The Great Depression of 1929-, and many trials, etc., yet trusting in the God who was able.
Dad and Mom, my late parents - What did they go through. They went through WWII, having four small children under seven. Trusted God through that time, came home and raised eleven children, and later founded and pastored a church for over 30 yrs. Trusting in God for everything. I never saw an aspirin tablet in our home for the 52 yrs they were married before Dad went home to be with the LORD. They trusted GOD for Salvation, for healing, for keeping. HE never let them down.
Out of the eleven siblings, most have gone through tests and trials in our lives, of many different kinds. But through it all we've still endeavored to trust the GOD of our fathers, finding HIM to be Faithful and True.
In Rev. it says "these are they that have come out of great tribulation. NOT THE GREAT TRIBULATION. which I believe those apostles of Jesus Christ, beginning with HIMSELF, went through. The followers of Jesus, the apostles, went through THE Great Tribulation, in my mind. Jesus said He had OVER-COME the world and we could overcome the tribulation that we would have too!

Re: Falla's Gma, First to Obey Apostolic Message
In the 5-generation picture in the link about my late paternal Grandmother Lizzie, there is my grandmother, my father, me, our eldest daughter, holding her firstborn, our first grandchild. Now Grandma Lizzie and my father are gone Home. I am a first time great-grandmother, our eldest daughter is a first time grandmother, our first grandson is a first time father. Out of 21 (and one on the way) grandchildren, Philip is the only one married. Our eldest daughter also has four other sons, Philip, the eldest is 28, Brandon is 25 (They are both licensed ministers). The other three are Nathan, 18, Neil, 16, and Grant, the youngest is 14. All have the Holy Ghost. This is just our eldest child's family. Philip's firstborn is the beginning of the 6th generation. She is not quite two yrs, but by the signs, she will continue the Apostolic faith in our family. There is nothing I can boast of within myself, but it is the generations that led the way that first believed. Three generations of my and my husband's family worship regularly in the church my late parents founded in 1958. It is affectionately called The Refuge Church. On the front of the building, just above the fountain are the words, "...his children shall have a place of refuge". Proverbs 14:26. To GOD be the Praise, Honor and Glory!

I remember Sis. Blakey very well. I went to church with her at Savoy many years, and also Sis. Parkhill. They were steadfast in their faith.

Norman,
Your late father received the Holy Ghost during those early years and was a tremendous influence on my late father. They went to a one room schoolhouse together.
