I don't like the gospel screamed at me nor preachers who get upset if they don't receive enough response from the congregation.

Re: I am going to Kentucky...

The Church of God Cleveland, TN have a beautiful College there. It is Lee University. Every time I drive by it (I do that every couple of months) I wish Oneness Pentecost had an accredited institution of higher learning like this that would be a good atmosphere for young folks to go get a good secular education but with a good Christian influence.

I was really rooting for Great Lakes University but I don't think it worked out.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

I'll be going through Kentucky a little after that. Staying in E-Town area for a night before heading on to Tennessee. I wasn't planning to go up to the Independence/Cincinnati area, but Hoovie's about argued me into it. I've just gotta spend a couple of days on the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee in the fall and then visit NE Arkansas... in the daylight - before hitting the river and riding that back home.

Great Lakes gave all my kids t-shirts some time back, but I forbade them to ever go there. Now, my daughter's in college at an accredited state university sharing a dorm room with a bunch of sinner girls.
