I spend every waking moment in front of it, soaking it all in, letting it take me further and further away from the Lord. Humanism. Evolution. Sex. Violence. Even (gasp) Trinitarianism! It's all there, 24x7.
I'm so far down the slippery slope, it ain't even slippery anymore! ( What??)
I'm just waiting for a UPCI ad to come on and show me the way to Truth!

We have one now. I hardly watch it. I find it hugely boring for the most part and hugely insulting to the intelligence, my eyes and my ears. For the most part. Of course that excludes some good British drama and mystery series that I enjoy watching.
Are you keeping up appearances, Mrs. Bucket???

Oh. I thought you spent every waking moment on AFF!

My parents bought a tv when I was 6 years old. I remember distinctly. We had one in our home the whole time I was growing up and I can't remember it ever being a problem in our home.
There was one in my home growing up. Our viewing time was strictly limited. Little House on the Prairie, Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom with Marlin Perkins, and a few others. I didn't feel deprived for it at the time, just inconvenienced. Now I know what a blessing it was that I was developing my interests, my mind, and my skills instead of killing brain cells in front of the box.
We got a TV and used it as a monitor about 4 years after we got married. We lived in a remote location with no reception to speak of. Later we moved to a spot where we could pick up ABC. I liked the football, and there were some sitcoms we found amusing, but so much of the humor was crude, sarcastic, or innuendo that we yanked the antenna after about 2 years. Now it's used for Veggie Tales and such, videos that we have screened or are from sources we trust. Half the problem is the attitude that comes across in the commercials!

Your kids are grown. Mine are little. I keep repeating to myself, 'what the parents do in moderation, the children will take to the extreme.' That applies to a lot of life, but it certainly includes entertainment. Especially when said entertainment is continually tossing in subtle hints in favor of wanton sex, socialism, GLBT lifestyles, moral relativism, and multiculturalism, and children are presented as a burden.

As in one time you were actually "close" to the Lord????

I confess that I have a TV. I compensated for my childhood years of not having a TV by buying a 60" high def version.
CC1 got jealous, and went out and purchased a 90" projection TV!
I'm now looking at ways that I can leapfrog CC1!

But is the vote about people having TVs or using the media to advertise and broadcast?
It's about the latter. But granting permission to the latter lends tacit approval to the former. People are going to do what they want to do, but they should be informed that the vast majority of programming, writing, and producing undermines what they are attempting to teach and live.

What percentage of UPC members do you think have TV?
I'm not sure. I would guess 65% ~ 80%.

If you don't mind, which ones?
