Need a favor: PLEASE DEFINE WHAT IT MEANS TO BE APOSTOLIC
An interesting exchange from another thread ....

I'm well aware of the account of Cornelius' salvation in Acts 10.
BUT, you and numerous other Oneness Pentecostals insist that if a person doesn't obey Acts 2:38, he isn't saved. Now, Acts 2:38 supposedly lays it out IN ORDER exactly what you believe people must do: 1) repent; 2) be water baptized in Jesus' name; 3) receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Peter never said you could receive the Holy Ghost before being water baptized or be water baptized before repenting. He also didn't say it the way you and so many others preach it! He didn't say "Repent, be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, receive the gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues, and you will be saved."
You don't get to have it both ways: either Acts 2:38 must be obeyed EXACTLY AS PETER PREACHED IT on the day of Pentecost, or it's not Acts 2:38 salvation. Since you and others here believe all three elements must be present (repentance, water baptism in Jesus' name [by which you mean someone must speak the name over someone like a magical incantation], be baptized in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues) before a person is saved, what you're really saying is that God gives the Holy Ghost only to unsaved people (since they're not saved until they receive it).

Chancellor, you are a member of APOSTOLICfriendsforum - we are Apostolic on here, we do not believe nor stand for any doctrine that man has created which attempts to divide and tear down the fact that God is one. I will not argue with you on this matter, for you have no argument, for you have no biblical basis to stand on. My advice to you would be to leave and go and find a forum that suits your error filled ways of thinking and leave.
We have two very strict rules that we attempt to abide by.
1 - no bashing
2 - to attempt to tear down the Apostolic Doctrine.
If you do not like this - Leave and do not come back.
God bless,
IAM

Without getting into how Chan's remarks could even be construed as bashing ....

I would say that for the most part, at least on this forum, "apostolic" refers to those who hold to Ac. 2:38 in varying degrees. It would appear that both "one steppers" and "three steppers" would fit into that category.

Not completely. But it does seem to be a place to start for agreement and it also seems to be what unites most of us here.

1. Each individual decides what it means to be Apostolic --it's conformity to EVERYTHING that individual believes.
2. Since the above individual is the standard for what it means to be Apostolic, anyone who does not believe EXACTLY the way that individual believes is obviously not Apostolic.
There is something Martin Luther is alleged to have said about, we got rid of the pope and now every man is a pope unto himself or we have replaced him with a thousand different popes each claiming infallibility and pronouncing an anathema on whomever did not believe the same as he --or something like that.

In this forum I think it means those who would consider themselves Oneness Pentecostal - at least in some form from a T D Jakes to an Epley. LOL!
