October 1 2007-The Day After The Vote
Okay, it is October 1 2007 the day after the UPCI votes to allow TV Advertising
(Not TV'S in every home-just Advertising) and the UC are taking a "Wait & See"
approach.
You are included on a special "Marketing Panel" set up by the General Board to come up with ways to market the UPCI in this medium.
Question-"What ideas would you put forth to "Market" this Church to the lost using TV Advertising?
I am not saying I am for it, I just want to hear ideas.
Anyone?

Boy howdy! Do I have some...even though I agin' it!
1) Broadcast nationally from great preaching across the UPC, with preachers like: Jeff Arnold, Anthony Mangun, Tom Foster, etc. etc.
2) Broadcast the next General Conference night services in typical "tv crusade" style.
3) Have the superintendent address the nation in short commercials asking them to check out what the UPC has to offer them at their local assembly.
4) Tape some family "gathering" type commercials that promote what the UPC can do to strengthen your family, and help to heal the hurting that is happening in MANY American homes.

There's a well known church here in CA. that just publically announced to their congregation that they are leaving UPC if TV gets voted in.
I was a little surprised at this one

I guess what I am saying is this, the Mormons have ads that portray a good wholesome image but are they growing?
I am not knocking what you are saying nor your ideas but what I am asking is this-will it really make a difference?

Well that may be true, but some have left already over other issues as well.
That will always be the case.

The Mormons are the fastest growing group in the world that are of a "New Testament" ilk. They are beaten by the Muslims, but of the "New Testament believing" groups, they are growing extremely fast.
I should check my statistics, but that is the stats we were given in Bible College, and were affirmed again in the late 90s. I haven't heard since.

Why not let the local pastors decide how to market their church? There is no way upci can come up with an effective advertising campaign that benefits the wide variety of beliefs inside the organization.
I read the musings of one pastor who brags about his "small" congregation with a "big" heart. While the church down the road announces their church is the place for deliverance. How can the upci come up with one universal message that attracts such a diverse crowd? The message is the gospel, but the methodology has to change.
Local pastors are usually closer to what works in their communities than someone thousands of miles away. Trust the local pastor to effectively use media tor reach the lost...
