It's funny because I read in
1 Corinthians 14 right before where he says "everything should be done decently and in order"; he's talking about a order of tongues and prophecy, and women in the church. He says in verse 37-38 "If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. [38] But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant." Now, that speaks volumes to me. For Paul is the great Apostle Paul to us, in that day, he was just a simple man of God to those involved.
Which let me know that those people, were also saying "oh, he is only speaking that of himself! That all comes from flesh, God didn't say that!" Because he has to say "if any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord."
So if they said that about the Apostle Paul, how much more will they say it in our day, when we are going through a great falling away? I believe its already happened, but I also believe it is still taking place too! As I see in
Hebrews 12:27-29 "And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. [28] Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: [29] For our God is a consuming fire."
If they said it about the Apostle Paul, they are bound to say it about the men of God of our era! I do believe that term is thrown around, and people think of wolves when they hear that term said. But just as EB said "I was robbed by a black man, but that doesn't mean all black men are bad"! The same goes for the men of God of our era. People just want to rebel against authority. Its a spirit of this last day at work.Which we can see from the scripture was already at work even, in the ministry if the Apostle Paul. Solomon said it best in
Ecclesiastes 1:9-10 "The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. [10] Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us."
But I will say, you can't say these men of God are adding anything to the scripture when they are telling you that, "they have no scripture for it". Now saying you have proof a text doesn't have something in it, and never presenting any evidence is taking away from scripture. Which if I read my Bible right, the book of
Revelation 22:18-19 warns against both, adding and taking away!!
