It was just a Christmas play.....

Was it a different program...YES.
However, it was presented in a more modern way...and did not deviate from the message. Maybe seeing something in it's entirety before judging something and calling it "carnal, fleshly, meaningless" as JAS has done.
Was it particularly my style...not necessarily. However, it does not deny that the gospel was presented...with a short "sermon" and prayer by Anthony Mangun at the end.

POA has always gotten a lot of criticism...HOWEVER, when you have the largest church in the UPCI (and it's not large when you compare it to the large charasmatic churches) you really don't care about what the little churches that have ran 50 for 50 years think because you are reaching the masses for Jesus. Just my .02.

No where does the Bible say to "reach the masses for Jesus," it says to "go and make disciples." A disciple is one who is like Jesus. You can have all the entertainment/followed by sermon and short prayer productions you want and still not done what the Body of Christ is supposed to do. Also, it is not a matter of what the "little" churches think, it is a matter of measuring ourselves by what the Bible teaches that counts. The Bible says that to compare ourselves by what others do is "foolish." In the New Testament, a foolish person is in danger of being dammed for his stupidity.

I recall Jesus reaching masses of people, feeding 5,000.
How many people were in the upper room?
Yes, just reach your 50 and be content. That is the best plan!

Yes he did and that is exactly what theatrical performances will produce, "loaves and fishes Christians." As soon as it's not fun and games anymore they will leave ( John 6:66). Remember that out of the thousands that Jesus fed he only chose 12 to be disciples.
