Well I am lounging here at work and as I was trying to think of the stories of death and carnage from the Old Testament, I couldn't think of one instance where GOD killed anyone.

There were plenty of wars.

There were sicknesses and natural disasters.

There were bad decisions, usually involving disobedience.

But was any human killed by God or His manifestation?

I say, "No."

Correct me if my memory fails me.

Re: Did Jesus ever kill anyone?

Because Jesus was fully God and fully man, we must be clear when referring to the historical Jesus of Nazareth, or to the Son of God -- whose tenure extends beyond Bethlehem.

When you assign to Jesus something Jehovah did, I think you are confusing theology. Though they are one, there are distinctions (which is what the Trinity hoped to explain). God, as the person of Christ, did not kill anyone.

2 Samuel 6:7 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.

Exodus 12:29 And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, . . .

1 Samuel 25:38 And it came to pass about ten days after, that the LORD smote Nabal, that he died.

Acts 12:21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them. 22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man. 23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

Re: Did Jesus ever kill anyone?

Genesis 38:7 And Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD slew him.

Genesis 38:9 And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother. 10 And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also.

Does it count if He uses accomplices? 2 Kings 17:25 And so it was at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not the LORD: therefore the LORD sent lions among them, which slew some of them.

Re: Did Jesus ever kill anyone?

Here's an interesting one.
1 Kings 20:35 And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said unto his neighbour in the word of the LORD, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man refused to smite him. 36 Then said he unto him, Because thou hast not obeyed the voice of the LORD, behold, as soon as thou art departed from me, a lion shall slay thee. And as soon as he was departed from him, a lion found him, and slew him.
Next time God tells you to do something, you better obey!

Timmy, in chronology, today, we know God has revealed Himself through His Son, Jesus Christ. Most Oneness Pentecostals don't believe in Eternal Sonship.

His name was Yahweh, the I AM, Jehovah -- in the sequence of human history (God has no Chronology since He is timeless), he revealed Himself to the world through the incarnation as Jesus Christ.

That does not mean Jesus Christ parted the Red Sea. On the contary, Oneness believers would reject that soundly, as they deny a pre-existing Son.

OK, thanks. I thought the standard response for Oneness was "God's name is Jesus".

That's rather simplistic. Today, he has revealed Himself -- and in Jesus we see the expressed image of the invisible God.

That doesn't mean the Jesus was born of Mary, walked on the Earth, also slew the Israelites. God perhaps did, but not through the manifestation/person of Jesus. That's why your questioned was rather loaded.
