It blows my mind that anyone would be worried about what a group of pagans did 3 thousand years ago. who cares?

nobody is worshipping pagan gods by letting a 2 year old find a stinking egg. come on people, lets be real.

I am being real. I am being true to my convictions. I don't condemn you for not holding the same convictions.

Having a harmless egg hunt with candy and money is a way of drawing those who don't attend church to our church who preaches the truth so that they can fill the spirit of God moving.

Our focus is not on the egg hunt. It isn't even mentioned until SS is OVER. We don't announce it over the pulpit, we just do it while the Bible Class is having their service.

Then we have the candy rain after service is over.

I am almost offended by the above statement. They got the old ticker to movin'. My worship is not predicated on what day it happens to be. I'm a little more thankful on Easter that He rose again and gave me the chance of salvation, so let the visitors see and feel the thankfulness and the annointing with which I worship. Let them feel the absolute gratitude for the saving power of my God. Maybe then they will realize that it's not all just a bunch of stuff that's being SAID, but that it is REAL and POWERFUL and TRUE!!

There are things I can't be involved in personally, but I try to be kind to others.
My sincere advice is to find out about the origin of things and pray and make informed decisions, having said that some would consider me liberal.
But I do have personal standards, and I sincerly seek after the Holy Ghost.

if you dont want to hunt easter eggs, that is fine by me. If you have a conviciton about the subject, i respect that, but please dont tell me you bast that on some notion that because a pagan came up with the idea 3 thousand years ago, you cant. that doesnt pass the muster. no logic my brother.

do your deal but dont suggest that "pagan orrigins" is a valid argument against anything...especially when the pagans are so dead they dont even stink anymore.

Perhaps this thread was a bad-idea,but I did think it was a valid question.
