Therein lies the dilemma........perception is greater than reality, and it's impossible to change one's perception.
I'll discuss issues for hours on end, but when I see that someone's mind is made up, and they have their own perception, I generally back out of the conversation, because from that point on, the only thing left is to beat a dead horse.

That may be true, but if they are able and willing to be led, it is going to happen somewhere; whether it is on the internet, their job, their friends, etc...
great post and very insitefull... the only thing I would add, is where our friend is concerned the word "evolve" should fit some place.
I haven't known MP from any other forum than AFF or at least I don't remember him on NFCF. So I couldn't tell if he has evolved or not. Maybe he just hasn't been that vocal on certain subjects until now.
FCF was before my time and I was only on NFCF for about 4 month (the greater part I spent in the debate area). When I finally strayed into the General Discussion area I got slammed by MB on the quilting thread, of all places! LOL
It was the time between NFCF and AFF on the GNC when I learned about the PCI doctrine and what a one stepper was! So I'm not a complete newbie but I definitely haven't been around the block as many times as some of the others on here have!

Well, there probably is a bit of truth on both sides of the fence, but again we are discussing "why Conservatives have left" therefore I gave my opinion on it.

What you're saying is that if someone doesn't believe that trimming hair will send you to hell, then there's not a lot else that they believe will send one to hell.
Hmm.......how about the SINS the Bible mentions? I don't know of any "bobbed hair woman" on this forum who doesn't believe in abstaining from sin.

lets start with the fact that I do not believe cutting ones hair sends them to hell. I dont even buy the "obey your pastor" deal that gets taught.
I never have. I have never been part of a church that taught that.

let me restate this more clearly.
Conservitives who believe that this and other standards issues (like television) are heaven and hell issues BELIEVE THAT.
So it isnt a fair comparison for you to take their core belief and treat it like they are bashing others for stating their core belief.
those that dont believe these things, typically hold to a classic "orthodox chiristian" belief that Grace is all that is needed and beyond the "Sins" listed in the bible, arent likely to start telling folk they are going to hell.... in general.
Surely we can agree on these points. Therefore, you are not making a fair comparison. hows that?
