My sympathy for Barbuda just left

At first I felt bad for these victims of Irma. Then my sympathy fled. Now I feel bad that my sympathy left.
I'll let you read and share your feelings!

Barbuda has been left completely devastated by Hurricane Irma. An estimated 95% of Barbuda’s structures are damaged, and the entire island of around 1,800 people has been evacuated.
“We believe climate change is here to stay — it’s a reality, despite all of the naysayers,” he says. “We know that these things have occurred as a result of the profligacy of the countries that are rich, and have abused the system. We, unfortunately, who contribute less than naught point naught percent of pollution of the world’s atmosphere, are the world’s greatest victims.”

Everyone's a victim...

As long as it pays to be a victim, everyone will be a victim. The only solution is to train up a generation that values ability and determination and abhors victim-status.

In other words, the welfare mentality has to be eradicated. Otherwise, it's a continual slide into the abyss.

It's not like the bolded isn't true.

But for argument's sake, say it is not true. Any one with half a noggin can see that this small island would need help from the outside to rebuild.

I don't see why anyone would contest their need for assistance.

Did you send them some money, yet?

LOL!

99% of us won't send them money directly-- but our country helps others in need. Barbuda shouldn't be any different.

Or maybe, you would rather a country or empire that is unfriendly to our democracy, freedom, and way of life come to the aid of this island that serves as a tropical playground for the wealthiest citizens of the west.

I wouldn't deny them sympathy over their political opinion, or even their concern that global warming is a factor in their circumstance.

Many are taking global warming into consideration daily. We see this in costal nations, leading politicians in both U.S. political parties, militaries, insurance agencies, corporations that plan on developing projects on coastlines where there is significant risk if weather intensifies or if sea levels rise, etc.

Even Trump takes it seriously when considering his own private investments:
Trump acknowledges climate change — at his golf course
The billionaire, who called global warming a hoax, warns of its dire effects in his company's application to build a sea wall.
http://www.politico.com/story/2016/0...-course-223436
The Pentagon believes it is a national security threat:
Pentagon is still preparing for global warming even though Trump said to stop
http://www.militarytimes.com/news/yo...-said-to-stop/
Frankly, the only ones not taking global warming seriously are the "followers" of the conservative movement who banter against it on the internet and vote for conservative politicians who "say" they don't believe in global warming - yet heed the science as it relates to their personal affairs and investments.

Re: My sympathy for Barbuda just left

The Pentagon is also continuing to work on using weather as a controllable weapon, so...

meh. It's already been proven "climate science" is pure politics and about money, they've been caught in the act repeatedly lying, falsifying data, blah blah blah.

Whatever. People believe what their handlers want them to believe. We live in a special edition episode of The Truman Show Meets Idiocracy.
