Limbaugh on the NFL

I do not listen to Rush, haven't for years.
I do not watch the NFL.
But from the water cooler talk at work today, this is what most of the NFL fan base is feeling.

But if you’ll permit me first, I was personally saddened. I did not watch the National Football League yesterday, and it was the first time in 45 years that I made an active decision not to watch, including my team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. It was not a decision made in anger. It was genuine sadness. I realized that I can no longer look at this game and watch this game and study this game and pretend, you know, fantasize, everything a fan does. This whole thing has removed for me the ingredients that are in the recipe that make up a fan.

Re: Limbaugh on the NFL

I went to lunch today with a friend and the tv was turned to ESPN2 with the volume up pretty loud. Whatever show on had a female host with two panelists. They brought up the tweets by Trump and gave their take on it.

There's a reason ESPN has lost a TON of subscribers which led the network to lay off dozens of popular personalities and a bunch of others earlier this spring. They've lost millions of subscribers -- and the reason is it has become MSNBC with a few sports references thrown in.

This program was ridiculous. One of the panelists said, "I'm going to just give "facts," not my feelings on this issue." Then he proceeded to bash Trump for his comments about McCain, the Gold Star parents and every other person Trump has commented on. Then he said the protests yesterday weren't about the flag or the anthem, but against the POTUS.

I have never been much of an NFL football fan. I'm a college football fan. I hate the drama dealing with greedy, prima donna professional players. I rarely watch NFL anyway, since it's on when I'm at church. Not much of a loss for me.

I'm just annoyed with ESPN and all the politics in sports. I want to watch the sport. I don't care what the player's politics are. I don't want to know. All I want to do is watch football.

Re: Limbaugh on the NFL

I saw the news that one single Pittsburgh Steeler player broke from the team and stood near the tunnel during the anthem. Only one.

And then I read that his coach was upset with him for doing it? Seriously? I thought the coaches were supporting free speech? Does his free speech not count? Apparently it doesn't because it wasn't the speech the Steeler coach wanted.

Tim Tebow bends his knee in prayer before games and the talking heads mock, ridicule and talk about how he shouldn't do that. Now players bend their knee to protest the anthem and suddenly talking heads gush over how wonderful it is.

Such liberal hypocrisy.

Re: Limbaugh on the NFL

There's a lot of peer pressure in the NFL to conform

I'm pretty sure the dictionary definition of lieberal is 'a hypocrite'.
