Black Liberation Theology

Ref the video located at:
http://www.eyeblast.tv/Public/Video.aspx?rsrcID=2036

It's long (13 minutes) and repeats some of the stuff we've heard before
but
toward the end it addresses "Black Liberation Theology."

Is this an accurate depiction of "Black Liberation Theology" and the teaching that Barack Hussein Obama and his wife and children have been receiving over their years of association with Rev. Wright and that particular church?

Re: Black Liberation Theology

Per wiki
Quote:
Black theology is theology from the perspective of the African diaspora - any people or ethnic population forced or induced to leave their traditional homelands. The message of black theology is that the African American struggle for liberation is consistent with the gospel--every theological statement must be consistent with, and perpetuate, the goals of liberation. This theology maintains that African Americans must be liberated from multiple forms of bondage—social, political, economic and religious. This liberation involves empowerment and seeks the right of self-definition, self-affirmation and self-determination.

Re: Black Liberation Theology

The words spoken by Cone and others about Black Liberation Theology are words filled, brimming, running over and saturated with hate, prejudice, racism and malice.

They are words that would land the (to steal Obama's words) "typical white" man in a lynching of a court trial tried in the press and on the air waves.

If one ounce of this frame of mind rests in Obama then he is not an acceptable candidate for the presidency. If one ounce of this frame of mind rests in Obama then he is not an acceptable candidate for a boy scout leader.

Why is it that "minorities" can say stuff like this
but
"typical white" folks can't?

Emotions will subside over time and race relations and relationships between people of different races are getting better. What you have to realize is that we're not just talking about ancient history. Well after slavery you had the very real Jim Crow era and the likes. I'm 32 and my father grew up in a time when he was not allowed into many white only establishments.
The further we move from that era...the better things will get on both sides. The white people who are further removed from thast era by and large have a different outlook on blacks and vice versa.
You just have to allow for the very real issues of the relatively recent history to be resolved.

He's been sitting under that theology (under Rev. Jeremiah Wright) since 1992. Does anyone really think he hasnt been influenced by it?

He claims the Rev. J. Wright as his spiritual mentor. He and his wife and children have sat under that teaching for years now. That's all his children know.

Well, his wife was never in her life proud to be an American until her husband was successfully running in the presidential primaries.
