Question to those Leaving UPC
There have been many discussions about people leaving or staying, after Resolution #4 was passed. I know people who are considering leaving are weighing the pros and cons...
Here is something I have not seen discussed that would, IMO, be a valid point to think about:: The UPC will still be far larger than a new organization, with a whole lot more ministers. With that in mind;
If a person leaves the UPC, it will free up their area for a new UPC work to come in... Though that may not affect a larger church too much, and yet it might, it seems as if it would affect some smaller works especially in a town where they are the only Apostolic Church..
Is that a concern, or should it be?

Yes, and it will create more fighting and factions for another entire generation.
Oneness people really need to get it together

Now, wonder who will answer.

BIG AMEN! WE need to fellowship on the basis of the One God, Acts 2:38, Jesus Name message. The world dies lost without it.

I have never particularly liked the idea of having to ask the other church for permission to start a church in the area...looks to me like there can't be enough churches. On second thought...leaves an open door for disgruntled saints to start their own work...I guess I halt between two opinions

Of course it has to be a consideration. Lots of spin-off effects which I don't think people are really taking into account.

True, but some churches especially in small areas that have been able to have that place to theirselves, because of the rules about not being too close, might not like their people being presented an option should one come in..

The small town I pastor in has only one church about 3000 population the church has been here 48 years the town is yet listed as an 'unchurched' town. I know a church that has been in existance for over 80 years and until lately it was an unchurched town a UPC preach went there after that church had been there for over 80 years. It was 'unchurched.'

The reason ministers need to ask "permission" to start a church is that there is a shortage of sinners!
My Lord in heaven have mercy!!!!!! We could have a church on every corner and still not run out of people to preach to!
The churches who leave will have far greater freedom to reach the lost as they have longed to.....if they preach the right message and I'm not talking about doctrine. They can have right doctrine and still not reach the lost. It all depends on WHY they left.
