Law Enforcement

What do you guys think? Is it a good idea for an Apostolic Holy Ghost filled christian to serve in a law enforcment capacity. ie U.S. Marshall, Border patrol agent, FBI, county or city police? What sayest thou?

Why would one think that it's better for a god-hating non-christian to be a police officer?

I dont see a thing wrong with it but then again I was a police officer for 4 yrs and am still a licensed peace officer. Its a good thing I feel for a holy ghost filled person to be out there because there is a chance and it may only be one chance but it is there, that you could be the one to make an impression on someone that no one else has been able to at what might be their last chance!

I wonder how many other members here at AFF been a police officer? Did you quit because of a conviction?

If a Christian is going to be a police officer then he/she needs to be prepared to take someone's life. I don't see anything wrong with a Christian being a police officer. In fact, I wish more Christians were in law enforcement.

No I did not quit because of a conviction. I quit because I have 4 children and I was exposed to an acid spill one night and even though its something that we all knew could happen at any point because of the line of things which you come in contact with your job I was pregnant and I was told that night that I would be fine but they couldnt guarantee the life of my child... Thats something a mother never wants to hear. I wrote my letter of resignation that night.. continued to work for them desk duty for 4 more months and then I was held at gunpoint for 2 hours one night and then had a knife held to me and was attacked by a disgruntled employee at an office building and he lacerated my neck in 4 places and was taking aim at my face... I left that night and never returned again. It was just the timing...

I have been asked to come back in detective capacity but have no desire at this time in my life. When the kids are a little older then possibly.

I have been in Law Enforcement for the last 16 years, I currently am a supervisor in a State Law Enforcement Agency. I have been UPC for all of this time. I know of no better place to have a holy ghost filled person.

Its like any other job, in my opinion. you do have to deal with the worst in society. But that also gives me an opportunity to witness to others in need. One must be careful and chose a good time to do this.

God has really helped me in dangerous situations. I have never had to use my weapon and hope I never will.

However, if someone broke into your house and the choice was #1: let the bad guy kill your wife and/or kids, #2: use your weapon to strike him first,

what would you do? I for one hope this never happens.....if it does..I would not hesitate to protect my family.

If you don't mind: How old are you now, and when did you get the Holy Ghost?
