T.D.Jakes on Dr. Phil
I just saw that TDJakes will be a special guest on the Dr. Phil Show on Monday.
Is Jakes an Apostolic minister?
What do you all think of this? Will you watch the show?

Margie, Bishop Jakes believes, teaches and demonstrates Apostolic Ministry. He believes and teaches the Revelation of Jesus Christ and baptizes in the Name of Jesus Christ. He teaches that everyone that repents of their sins should be baptized in water and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
He also ministers healing and deliverance to many. He has an Apostolic Ministry. He does not label himself as APOSTOLIC - for obvious reasons. I am Apostolic but do not label myself as Apostolic for obvious reasons - most that SAY they are Apostolic - have no clue as to the meaning of the word. Many think it means they can quote Acts 2:38.

I may disagree with TD Jakes on some things...but the Man is anointed... and powerful... way distanced from the TBN crowd who pretend...
There is a definate difference in Jakes ministry vs. the others around there...

I went to the drphil website and it's not on there yet, Trou. I normally don't watch DrPhil or Oprah or any of those shows. It just happened to be on today for 'background noise'. I was seriously stunned when I heard him mention TDJakes and looked up and they showed him sitting there with DrPhil and a couple of other people. The announcement said he would be on on Monday. I'm gonna tune in just to see.
AtlantaBishop, thank you for filling me on BroJakes. I've read one of his books, but that was a long, long time ago. Interesting!!

While I have enjoyed the ministry of Bishop Jakes, I would not see him any different than Rod Parsley or some other Trinitarian preacher (Bishop Jakes is not Trinitarian btw.) I can listen to any of them and "eat the meat and throw out the bones," so to speak.
I know that I am going to take some flak for this post, however, I will briefly state my reasoning. In recent years there has been an attempt to redefine what "Apostolic" means by non-Apostolics. They have associated "Apostolic" with a new age of Apostolic authority and power being restored to the church rather than doctrinal truths taught by the Apostles, and now being embraced and taught by us.
This new "Apostolic" era in fact is devoid of taking any "doctrinal" stand, and when pushed for doctrinal clarity those who embrace this new ideology will usually use a lot of smoke and mirrors type answers to avoid identifying themselves with truth that will be consequential.
A balance of Apostolic Authority and Apostolic Doctrine defines true Apostolics, and one cannot exist without the other.
Having said that, Bishop Jakes practices the basic tenets of the Apostolic doctrine, such as if you are baptized under his ministry you will be baptized in Jesus name. However, he does not believe that baptism in Jesus' name is essential to salvation. In fact if you come to his church from a Trinitarian movement and never feel your need to be re-baptized it is a non-issue to him. Based upon his own statements regarding doctrinal issues Bishop Jakes is not Apostolic.
It is not the avoidance of the name "Apostolic" that concerns me it is the distancing of ones self from the doctrine that is the issue.

They also announced today on our local radio station (since I live in Dallas they talk about the Potters house on occasion) and Dr Phil will be speaking at both Sunday services this weekend at the Potters house.
