Here We Go Again: Hurricane Humberto Hits

Well, late last night Tropical Storm Humberto became a hurricane just before it hit shore. Interestingly enough, as fate would have it, this hurricane took the very same path as Hurricane Rita two years ago... the one that totalled our Church. Thankfully this one was a category 1 and not too vicious this far inland.

As we're calling and checking on elderly Saints I haven't had time to get to the Church yet to see if there is any damage to the sanctuary once destroyed by a hurricane (and semi-restored) or the new sanctuary being built to replace the old one.

I did get a call from a young man working out of my Church to build a new work in Port Arthur who is presently sitting in water with no electricity. Our electricity went out but came back on... a fact for which we're thankful!

In that I have a huge red Ford F350 4 wheel drive with an 8" lift kit on it I'm going to head out in a little while and see about those we can't contact via telephone and probably go get this family building the Church... if we can get the truck through the water. May take a row boat with us to check it out in case we need it.

All in all, we're doing good (as far as I know) and God has kept his hand on us. Some expressed to me that they had been praying for us; thank you from the bottom of my heart.

God is good...

Well my dear mother went to town (26 miles away) to the dentist right in the middle of the thing. DeRidder is pretty flooded but no structal dammage to speak of.

My mom got back home and they are ok too. lots of wind but the rain has stopped.
