The Ends Of The World Are Come ?
Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples:and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.1.COR.10:11
Why did The Apostle Paul in first Epistle to the church at Corinth, tell them the ends of the world are come upon them ?
Surely the physical world didn't end because it is still continuing today.
So what ends of what world came upon these whom Paul wrote to in His epistle ?

G165
αἰών
aiōn
ahee-ohn'
From the same as G104; properly an age; by extension perpetuity (also past); by implication the world; specifically (Jewish) a Messianic period (present or future): - age, course, eternal, (for) ever (-more), [n-]ever, (beginning of the, while the) world (began, without end). Compare G5550.
Strong's has it as the end of an age or period of time.
Not to be confused with the other definitions for the word "world" (Earth)
So many teachings have been formed by not looking up what the correct definition for that word "world" would apply and just lump all together.
What I have learned to do is when this word is used, see which Greek word was used by the writer, and see if it was the entire planet Earth, the Roman empire or the Jewish age.

The term WORLD in the pertinent verse as well as Matt 24's "the sign of thy coming and of the end of the world" is one and the same. AION, from whence we derive the english word EON. An age. The LAW age had ended. The jews believed in two ages. Age of Pre-Messiah and Age of Messiah.

the church has been looking for the end of the world since the day Jesus died...
and other than a bunch of coded images that we can't be sure we are decoding right we have no idea when/if the end will ever actually come...
what we really need to do though is stop looking for the end and just live our life each day to the fullest for God and if the end comes, great, if it doesn't, great... stop living our lives like tommorow is going to be the end for sure!
that doesn't make any sense and after 2000 years of it you'd think Christians would have learned better...

They were in the end of the "world" and the "last days" two thousand years ago. It was the end of an AGE... law.

RC,
Bible prophecy is indeed probably the most difficult part of scripture to understand. But they are written for us to understand, not to ignore. While no-one may have complete understanding of the full prophetic picture, I believe God is still willing and able to add to our knowledge as time goes by.
Your approach seems to be almost a defeatist attitude though... as if we should just throw our hands in the air and not pay much attention to prophetic things. I frankly don't think that's the right approach. And I'm sure glad that no pastor/preacher I've ever been under has tried to encourage me to take that approach.
As for me, I want to understand all I can, of every aspect of scripture, as much as I can, for as long as the Lord gives me to be on this earth.
