The Motive for TV Usage: Ego?

I received the Library Builder this week. In it a lengthy article against the resolution in Tampa was written. One argument that is made over and over is that those who are pushing the resolution are egotistical and want to be "stars" or they are people who are enamored with "stars" among us and wish to see their favorite Apostolic preacher on the airwaves.

I think its a lame argument to demonize opponents in this way.

The pro tv crowd I would say by and large have genuine motives for their opinions. I feel most anti tv people have the same sincerity. Let's argue the merits without the personal invectives. It gets really old and tiring.

I have always been deeply offended by ignorant people who have said that Kenneth Phillips did what he did out of ego.

Anyone who actually knows the man knows that ego was absolutely not his motiviation. There may be things to criticize KP about but motives and ego are not ones.

It is clear the anti TV folks are grasping at straws to buttress their position.

When all else fails, make devils out of your opponents. Sounds to me like desperation is starting to set in. The writing is on the wall.

Honestly from my perspective I see the 'ego' factor.

All preachers can fall prey to 'ego' with or without being on TV ...

True, that. But, there are often certain settings that help further 'ego' on its way.

TV is just one of them.

Refusing to use tools of mass communication could also be driven by "ego".

The old "Paul and Peter didn't need it, so I don't need it either..." mentality which somehow does not apply to PA systems, electricity, air conditioning, etc.

While I've heard one or two preach who's ego were bigger than Dallas.........most men I've heard preach have honest, loving hearts and ministries of integrity.
