I honestly don't think it's any different than it always has been. All throughout history we see these things taking place where millions have lost their lives. The loss of life doesn't happen in those proportions anymore due to greater foundations, layouts, and technology that warns us ahead of time, in most cases.

Yes but Jesus said these very natural calamities would be signs of His Coming and of the End of the Age In Matthew 24:1-8.
The key passage is verse 8 that states, "All these are the beginning of sorrows". Literally it is translated, "All these are the beginning of birth pangs".
That statement is a veiled clue to what makes these naturally occuring disasters unique to all those that have always occured. When a baby is about to be born the indicator that the birth of the child is getting closer and closer is the contractions of the mother. The more severe and the more frequent the birth pains, the closer to the birth of the baby.
Throughout the prophecy passages of scripture the Coming of the Lord is likened unto a woman in travail to give birth.
We are seeing more frequent, more severe natural catastrophes. They will continue until Jesus comes. Global warming, if it really is occuring, is not b/c of industry, its because the whole earth is groaning for the manifestation of the sons of God (Romans 8:19-23).

When a newspaper posed the question, "What's Wrong with the World?" G. K. Chesterton reputedly wrote a brief letter in response: "Dear Sirs: I am. Sincerely Yours, G. K. Chesterton." That is the attitude of someone who has grasped the message of Jesus.

It does seem that they are more frequent.
I forget exactly where, but in Asia there were 10 plus million people fleeing flood waters.
The media makes it seem like it's happening more often, but it's really not. If you didn't have media to help you know about things that happen, you would be clueless as to it happening at all.
All throughout history, famines, earthquakes, devastating floods and fires, and ravishing diseases that killed millions have occured.
While it may seem to be happening more often, far less people die as a result of these things today than years ago because of technology and medicine. The Bubonic plague, for instance, would have been a quick cure with just a simple antibiotic, but 1/3 of the earth's population was killed from that sickness because such medicine didn't exist.
Things listed in Matt 24 have happened in dynamic proportions since those words were spoken by Jesus, and existed even before He spoke them.
Bad things have always happened. The media makes sure we hear about it all the time.
