An Eeyore Attitude....

Ever met anybody with an Eeyore Attitude?

Anybody who knows anything about Winnie the Pooh, a loveable bear, knows who Eeyore is. He is a little grey patched up Donkey who is the epitomy of Woe is me. He is unsightly and ragged and for most young kids he is not their first choice for a toy. He doesn't have the charisma of Winnie the Pooh or the brightness.

Eeyore lives in the southeast corner of the Hundred Acre Wood, in an area labeled "Eeyore's Gloomy Place" on the map in the book. He has a stick house there, called the House at Pooh corner, which Pooh and Piglet built for him after accidentally mistaking the original house that Eeyore built for a pile of sticks.

Eeyore's favorite food is thistles.

He mopes and generally expects if anything is bad to happen it will happen to him because that's just his lot in life but that's not all there is to Eeyore.

Nearly all of Eeyore's houses in the cartoons have fallen down, been knocked down, or been bounced down. Eeyore is not good at rebuilding the houses; butterflies often knock them down just by landing on them. Yet he soldiers on and rebuilds them time after time. Despite his depressive nature, Eeyore is capable of great compassion, which is shown when he grows a plant that Rabbit, a master gardener, was unable to grow, just by showing the plant a little love.

Eeyore has some great qualities if he would just get back his spark. The light in his over the years has dimmed. He has lost his love for life and while there are some good qualities Eeyore possesses he needs some joy in his life.

In some ways Eeyore reminds of me of some Christians I know.

"Woe is me"... "I'm burned Out"..... They won't give up and yet they've lost their joy... Just Old Grey Donkey's...

In Revelations God spoke to the Church at Ephesus and said I know all the things you do. I have seen your hard work and your patient endurance. I know you don’t tolerate evil people. You have examined the claims of those who say they are apostles but are not. You have discovered they are liars. You have patiently suffered for me without quitting.

But God told them, "You have lost your first Love" They had become so beleagured in their Christian walk they became like an Eeyore, unhappy and no spark or light in their eye. They were tough but not tender, they were strong but weakened because they had lost that twinkle in their eye and had forgotten what love really felt like.

Sometimes I feel like that.
I feel sometimes that I'm tired and though I keep getting up from being knocked down. My first love is being drained from me by life. I desperately desire that twinkle I possess. I desperately desire to have the spring back in my step and the fire of life that generates my faith.

As God told the Church at Ephesus told repent so must I. He told them to turn back to Him and DO the works they did when they first Loved Him.
And then He warned them that if they did not He would remove their light from among the Churches but He did NOT leave them without promise if they would listen to His Words.

God said to him that overcometh (continuely getting up and fighting for that First Love) will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Eeyore there is something better you can have if you want it. God can take the worried wrinkles and the frowns and in it's place you can have a beautiful smile once again..

I have come to realize that there is No Gloomy Corner in God's kingdom.

He wants us to have spark and life that only His Spirit can bring to our Lives.

Just a thought..

YES!!!! I have met a couple of people like that. You feel totally drained physically and mentally when you leave their company.

Lord, can we talk?

Good point!

But, I know this one woman is really draining Him - for sure!!!

If you call her house or cell phone, "Hel - low!"

I'm like, "Hey, Eyeore! I'm not going to ask how you are doing cause I already know!"
