Apostolic Faith Mission

Does anyone know where to find information of Parham's Apostolic Faith Mission churches he planted? The ones I know about are now affiliated with something else.

They are still around. At least the last I looked. I forget what they now call themselves.

Re: Apostolic Faith Mission

There used to be one down by skid row on or close to Burnside Street in Portland, Oregon. I remember another Apostolic Faith Church in Dallas, Oregon back when I was a young feller in the '70s.

Interesting. I didn't realize any were still around but then I haven't really researched it.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: Apostolic Faith Mission

The Apostolic Faith Mission is more associated with John G. Lake than with Parham. They were friends but Parham taught soul sleep and annihilation of the wicked. I dont know if any of those early groups survived.

I have not read enough on John Lake to say much of anything. But he did preach for Harry Morse after his return from Africa.

Re: Apostolic Faith Mission

Lake had a tremendous healing ministry according to Pentecostal history. I used to have a book John G. Lake Apostle to S. Africa. It recorded many outstanding miracles. His group AFM still exist today. There is one in the city I live close to.

Re: Apostolic Faith Mission

I am still AG. I’m a pastor and I go to Africa some. I’m considering Cheney KS first Ag. They were called the apostolic church of Cheney. Some of the senior saints remember Sis Parham preaching there years ago. Parham moved there as a kid, before Topeka. Prior to 65 it was affiliated with the Full Gospel Evangelical Association. They AG kinda heavy handed the church away from them according to the FGEA. I’ve go a call into Baxter Springs apostolic bible school for info they may have. Just digging up some history that has been lost.
