Bible Q&A with Bros Bernard and Norris
This is interesting, although brief, highlights below:
- more bible scholars are coming to a oneness viewpoint
- stance on divorce and remarriage
- Jesus having a God in the book of revelation
- demonic possession
- submission to pastoral authority (we only follow leadership as leaders follow the bible)
- sanctification
- Logos theology
- slavery, does the bible endorse it?
- dispensationalism revised, walking back numerology, people only saved by the cross, not by being martyred in the trib, we are not bringing in the coming of the Lord
- post Christian culture evangelism
- easy believism, predestination, repentance is a definite experience
- when did Jesus become eternal?
- early oneness pentecostals
- get your answers from books written by Pentecostal scholars, not from social media

Re: Bible Q&A with Bros Bernard and Norris
I wish I had not lost the letter I got many years ago from Brother Bernard, where he explained to me some doctrinal points. He is a reasonable man. Unfortunately not everyone in the UPCI is as well educated and able to argue his position as he does.

Re: Bible Q&A with Bros Bernard and Norris
Who are the Bible scholars who are moving closer to the Oneness position?
Quote:
stance on divorce and remarriage
|
Agreed.
Quote:
Jesus having a God in the book of revelation
|
A decent but to short explanation.
Agreed.
Quote:
submission to pastoral authority (we only follow leadership as leaders follow the bible)
|
Agreed with Bernard. Norris contradicted him saying if there is no Bible the Pastor will pray about it and you should obey.
Agreed.
Same old frail doctrine that the Logos is just Gods mind. Trins kill Oneness on this one. Not that THEY are correct about a second God person but that the Logos was the image of God.
Quote:
slavery, does the bible endorse it?
|
Pretty good but does not address Jews and slavery or bondman, only Romans.
Quote:
dispensationalism revised, walking back numerology, people only saved by the cross, not by being martyred in the trib, we are not bringing in the coming of the Lord
|
By refuting you can be saved by dying in the trib they seem to minimize pre trib rapture. By teaching we are not bringing in the coming of the Lord they refuted dominion theology.
Quote:
post Christian culture evangelism
|
Agreed.
Quote:
easy believism, predestination, repentance is a definite experience
|
Denied osas, established truth of repentance.
Quote:
when did Jesus become eternal?
|
Agreed but not enough info given.
Quote:
early oneness pentecostals
|
Agreed. IMO they were more hungry for truth than the modern Oneness.

Its my opinion that once past Acts 2:38 and the Godhead Pentecostal scholars sound a lot like they get their doctrine from Evangelicals.

What is this thing about divorce and remarriage? Are they becoming more conservative or more liberal in their position? What is their official position?

Like those who teach futurism, dispensationalism, "post trib", the Jews are Israel/chosen by God, and that beards are okay?

Are we as Christians supposed to usher in the fullness of the Kingdom of God by our own works? That’s a common misconception of Christian Reconstruction. Secular critics often accuse Christian Reconstructionists of desiring to seize the reins of political power in order to enforce a Christian theocracy on an unwilling population. Not true.
Then there’s the Christian critics who accuse Christian Reconstructionists of attempting to do what only God can do—usher in the millennial reign—by way of Christ’s Second Coming. In other words, they say Christian Reconstructionists believe they can create a Christian utopia solely by human effort. Again, not true.

Brother Norris isn't a dispensationalist?
OK.
