And The Beat Goes On
Well, it has been just a wonderful last few days. NOT! Last week, on Wednesday, to be exact, my wife asked her boss if she could get more hours. She was concerned about the gas situation, as was I, and wanted to do her part to get more hours. Well, her boss told her she could transfer to another part of the park, the water slides, and she would get more hours but she'd have to change shifts to 11-7. No problem for her. She filled out the paperwork and at the end of her shift the boss told her not to come back for two days while the transfer was going through. Again, no biggie. She showed up for work on Saturday, as instructed, only to be told she'd have to wait another week to two weeks to know if she'd be transferred and she couldn't go back to where she had been working. So, the wife is basically unemployed now, pending whatever these geniuses decide to do.
If that isn't bad enough, I got an email this morning from the main company I have been working from home for. They gave me what is called a BOC (breach of contract) over having voicemail. I promptly contacted them and told them there must be some mistake because I have no features whatsoever on this phone line, no call waiting, no three way, no voicemail, nothing. The lady gave me a call and then called me again just to verify. She told me it would have to go to a supervisor for review and she couldn't tell me how soon it would be before they could get back to me. Well, lo and behold, I then got an email saying my contract with them had been terminated. No explanation, no nothing! They basically showed me the door for no reason.
So, I am now going to have to work more for another company, that mainly has call volume at night, when all these infomercials are running. I really don't care too much for this type of call taking because it involves a lot of selling this or that, on top of what the caller called about in the first place, and I just don't like being so pushy with sales. I am going to do it, because my family is counting on me, however.
This couldn't have happened at a worse time. I am supposed to start classes on the 25th and it was supposed to coincide with my working from home. Now I have to move all my equipment, (phone, computer, printer, desk, router, etc.,) from my room to the kitchen because taking calls late at night in this room keeps my wife up.
I am very aggravated, to say the least. I am thankful that I have this other work at home job to fall back on, but that isn't the point. Neither my wife nor I have done anything to have what's happened to us happen to us. Anyway, all I can is...........................the beat goes on.

I have so been there.I just keep praying and telling the Lord i didn't deserve it.
When I was made to climb the six flights of stairs with no ac in the jail.I would get to the top and pray,"Jesus you know I am someones Grandma."
Regardless of that until I learned to praise the Lord and worship anyway the trial remained. My husband at this time was fired from his customer service job with American Express.Boy have I been there.I will keep you in prayer.

Well, we got all my computer stuff moved down to the kitchen. It feels weird being down here and posting. I have gotten used to be stuck in my room all the time. LOL! I am even gonna set me up a little tv in here with cable and everything, so I can watch the tube between phone calls. I am going to try to stay awake tonight to start taking calls. I don't know how well I will be able to pull that off though cause I got up at 8:30 today on only 4 hours of sleep so I will probly be pretty tired here in a few hours. If I end up forcing myself to stay awake I will not be in good condition to take calls, but if I force myself to stay awake then I will sleep in late tomorrow and can stay up then.
In a way, I am excited about this. I've tossed around moving my "office" to the kitchen for awhile now, but didn't want to because I was taking calls during the day and it needs to be quiet when I am working.
BTW, Trouvere, yeah, I am aggravated about what's happened, but I am not gonna let it get me down. Maybe this is just God's way of settting things up so I will be able to get my homework and whatnot done from college.

I called one of those numbers because I wanted more information on an Oreck air filter system... I was kinda disappointed when I realized that all the lady could do was either sell me something or send me a brochure (I usually have questions that aren't in a FAQ list)... my brochure showed up about 6 weeks later. lol.

Yeah. Pretty much all we can do is search for the answer in the FAQ section we have for each product, refer them to the customer service number, or arrange for them to receive a brochure. Most of these companies have websites where you can find information out as well. Our job is basically to take your order and try to upgrade you.

Thanks. This just means I am going to have to take a different approach to working from home is all. If push comes to shove I always have the option of going back to a regular bricks and mortar kind of job. Everything will be fine.

A quick update, for those of you that are interested.
I got my "office" moved downstairs just fine. I even got the cable hooked up to my little 13 tv I watch when I am sitting at the computer! That is a nice bonuse to being downstairs! I worked the night time call taking thing for a couple of nights and decided to just go back to working a regular bricks and mortar kind of job. It must have been God's will cause I found a job in one day! I put in one application and got that job! LOL! It's working nights doing some of the kind of work I have done in the past to make ends meet. Nothing to brag about, but it will pay the bills while I am finishing my degree!
Yup! I started my classes yesterday! I about freaked out when I finally went to my "classroom" and took a look at everything I will have to do. in fact, I almost backed out of it, but my admissions counselor got me calmed down. Apparently, freaking out on day one is a pretty common occurance! LOL!
So, I am off on my journey to earn a bachelor's degree in IT. My goal is to specialize in software engineering, (programming, for those of us born before microwaves and computers became commonplace in American homes!) Hopefully, having this job, doing something I have done in the past already and know how to do, will help make the journey a pleasant one for me. I feel pretty good at how things have worked themselves out, thank you Jesus!
