Extremely blue

Not in church. Haven't been for a while. When I was in church they always told us those who left the truth would commit suicide. Did anybody else hear this? Because I have been out of church for a while now and I can tell you I feel like absolute you know what. All the time. Nothing makes me happy anymore. Burnt out & fed up don't even begin to describe it. Constant crying, panic attacks. Is this from ingrained fear they put in our heads or am I really depressed? Should I go back to church to see if that helps? Online forums aren't really my thing but they are interesting to read. Any info would help.

Re: Extremely blue

I found out a long time ago not to put my faith in the church.
Put your faith in Jesus. He's the answer to your and the worlds problems.

(The church has enough problems by themselves).

I've never heard that before. Quite frankly, that sounds like nonsense meant to scare someone into staying, instead of encouraging someone and strengthening them in the Lord.

Otherwise, Dord has it pretty much right. Churches are just made up of people, and people will ultimately disappoint you. Jesus will never disappoint or forsake you.

Having said that, you need to have a group of like-minded individuals to fellowship with. We are commanded not to forsake assembling together, because we need each other to strengthen one another when we're weak.

Have you only forsaken church or have you also forsaken God? Perhaps you need to spend some time in prayer, talking with your Savior (which is always sage advice, regardless of your problems).

Re: Extremely blue

The best way to fight sadness is to regularly stay in the Word of God.

Psalm 34:18
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

First Peter 5:7
Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Hi, I'm sorry you don't feel well. I have a few suggestions.

* talk to a trusted counselor to get some guidance

* read the psalms, and spend time worshipping and praising God, as you lift Him up, He will lift you up

* spend some time outside, take a nice long walk and let nature lift you up

* hug a dog, they are awesome at making people feel better

That is some bad seed girl! Every word, every thought, is a seed that produces fruit. 1 Peter 1:13 says to "gird up the loins of your mind, be sober." And again in chapter 5 verse 8 we're admonished to be sober and vigilant because our adversary the devil is seeking who he may devour. Everyone that calls themselves christian is in a fight. The battle ground is in our minds. Therefore we must guard every word (seed) and thought that enters. We do this by staying in the Word. It is the filter we use to filter out the bad seed. As for the bad seed that has already been planted, again, we renew our minds with the Word. Romans 12:2 Ephesians 4:23

As has been mentioned find other christians to fellowship with. This does not need to be a "church" building. The church is not a building but people set apart as the body of Christ.

So, get in the Word, renew your mind, seek out other Christians and breaks the bread of the Word together, and above all, seek the kingdom of God and everything will work out fine! Matt. 6:33

My friend, contrary to what some might say on this forum, the congregating together (church) is very important to our spiritual and mental well being.

Hebrews says:

Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised
Heb 10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Setting the fear issue aside, church is where we find others who are also going through the negatives of life but still get up the strength to go and worship God together with believers of like precious faith. When we go to church we encourage others and are encouraged.

We gain spiritual strength when we go to church.

Jesus went to church.

Luk 4:14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.
Luk 4:15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.
Luk 4:16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

Peter and John went to Church.

Act 3:1 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.

Withdrawing ourselves from the physical congregating, either in a house or other structure, is going to rob us of spiritual strength.

One of the first ploys of the adversary is to try to get a child of God out of the assembly.

Please begin to attend an assembly again, give strength to those others and get strength from those who attend. Let the Holy Spirit strengthen you in Jesus name.

God bless.
