Re: Recent Blog
I believe to most people, my family would be labeled holiness (negatively labeled). Although standards are rarely mentioned except for the occasional bible study type setting and with no intention to offend. It is not made to be a prerequisite to salvation, but another outward demonstration of a inward work. Jesus didn't belittle outward work, but only desired it to be rightly motivated.
I remember as a adolescent being scoffed by my peers in the locker room for not dressing out into shorts. I'll guarantee that these standards that offends many has caused great oppression to Pentecostals. I remember when being Pentecostal was not cool. I have been mocked on many occasions for the initial evidence of the Holy Ghost. So I am sorry I don't see myself as a Pharisee. The Pharisee's where mainstream and towered over the Jewish people; I am sorry, but I don't see Pentecostals with that upper hand.
Most of the time its not the new converts grumbling about holiness, but it is people who have been in for a while and they no longer want carry that cross. They don't want to take any slack for looking different in public. They want to maintain all their relationships outside of the church. Yet, in the church they want to teach S.S., sing in the choir, etc.
I would never place the burden of a dress code on someone to go to heaven. Over time I would want people to understand modesty and male and female roles. As for what they do with it, that is up to them. I will love them and fellowship them either way as long as they are not trying to cause disunity.

Re: Recent Blog
Esaias,
I am attempting to live as close to the Word of God as I can and add nothing or take away anything from it. I attempt to take God's word at face value.
However I do see a group of apostolic who act like the children of Israel at the bottom of the mount, or like the Catholics who say, Moses (priest), we don't want to hear from God ourselves. You go talk to God and then come back and tell us what He says. We saw how that turned out for the Israelites and also for Catholics.
The blog was not intended to condemn anyone, but rather to encourage us as apostolic to put away our petty differences that have separated us for too long now. Since the 1960s forward we have not had the revival because of disunity in the apostolic movement. Why can't we focus on the fundamental Biblical doctrines of One God and His name is Jesus, the gospel of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and repentance, Baptism in Jesus name for the remissions of our sins and receiving the Baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues?
When we do this, I guarantee it will happen.
I just heard a message similar to this by bro. James Hughes at Nashville Men's Conference today. He said that the number one thing we are missing in our ranks is fellowship. We must get back to fellowship with people of like precious faith and put our differences aside.
We need revival in these closing days. It will only come about when we focus on Biblical beliefs and not on all the other things that are left to our own convictions.

Re: Recent Blog
I imagine that people everywhere, of many varied denominations and movements, Apostolic or otherwise, all feel that God is speaking to them, leading them, giving them a vision and an understanding for the future, and etc.
I also imagine that if we could sample all of the above, we'd realize that there is some agreement, but some disagreement. However one might assume, the Lord wouldn't contradict Himself and tell one group one thing and another group the opposite.
I say all that to say the following: The Lord has said to me "Peace? Peace? There is no peace!" and "I have made my sword fat with blood".
There is a true church, and God is not going to decimate her. But the ones who refuse to come out of mystery babylon are going to partake of her plagues and be judged by God. We've had over 100 years to get things right. God has risen up early and sent us prophets and apostles, and like Jerusalem of old, New Jerusalem has stoned the ones sent to her.
The Lord wants a church without spot or blemish. He wants a bride that has perfected herself for His coming. Less than that won't cut it. Anyone, even if Apostolic, who refuses the Lord His right to rule over them COMPLETELY will be on the receiving end of this parable:
Luke 19:27,
Quote:
But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.
|
The visible church is shaking. There is no fear of God before their faces. The whirlwind is coming against those hangers-on who don't really want to live for the Lord, even if they were immersed in Jesus name and spoke in tongues, regardless of whatever standards they keep and how often they attend mass/synagogue. The Lord knows them that are His.

If that is ALL we do I can guarantee revival WONT happen. That is a good starting place but it is just the most elementary thing Jesus does with his people.
