Paul, if I am not mistaken, knew his time wasn't yet up because he had work to do - it was more expedient for those he ministered to that he remain.
Nevertheless, when I read this thread I had the Psalms playing (Alexander Scourby). This is what he was reading:
Remember how short my time is: wherefore hast thou made all men in vain?

As I was typing this, psalm 91 was on.
I think sometimes God reminds us that our time here is in his hands, ultimately. We should be ready at all times to "move up higher". Maybe God is trying to get your attention about something.
Remember, too, Hezekiah...he was told to set his house in order. But he prayed, and God healed him.
