Question Word Preacher's idea

On another thread WordPreacher talks about allowing God to pick a marriage partner for you...how many people truly believe that God picks someone out for you?

*If so, how would you know?

or, how does He do it?

Blessings, Rhoni

P.S. I'll post my reply from the other thread.

The question is: How does God do this? He trusts you to learn from your elders, be taught by your church leadership, and learn from studying Godly/healthy relationships.

God gives you his spirit and when the person you are attracted to loves God like you love God, shows fruits of the spirt, is not led by lust of the flesh, lust of the eye, or pride of life, and you respect and admire her...good chances are...

Truth is: God doesn't wish on you someone you think is unattractive but he gives you sensitivity to the spirit, and when you live in the spirit you are better equipped to make a good decision for your life partner for yourself.

God doesn't have a couples list with your mate on it...he does though, see the future and knows the choices you will make.

Blessings, Rhoni

He did for me.

Well, God showed me my wife in a dream and He also told me by speaking to me. He has done this many many times with different things.

Dreams and audible words. He also gives you peace about it.

Well, that sounds mighty fine.

How do you know it isn't just you?

I didn't learn this from elders and I never sought their approval, because they are just men that can tell you the wrong thing. That's why I sought God on my own and had Him to pick my wife. It took years, but I know that my marriage and wife is God's will for me.

My story is much different and I can not tell it on here, because my wife would kill me, but it is something that God did, not me and not her. We just obeyed.

If Apostolics allow God to pick their mates, then God would pick the best mate for them. Humans never pick the best mate for themselves, but they pick what they see that they like, which isn't the best way to pick a mate.

Like I said, I didn't choose my mate, but He did choose my mate for me. That's why I know my wife is God's will for me. I would not trust a human in something like that, especially myself.

Because I trusted God enough to pick my mate and if I married the one that I picked, I would be divorced now. I probably would of been divorced within six months.

Another way that I know that I didn't pick my wife is because we are total opposites, but we fit together like a glove. You would have to know how I am to understand how I didn't pick my wife. I left it up to God years ago and He chose the wife that He wanted me to have.

Wordpreacher,

Thank-you for sharing your experience. I don't doubt that you believe this but I have my doubts about why/how God would care to do such a thing. There are too many personal factors involved.

I've had dreams, prophecies that have been directed to me/at me, and I think I ate too much pizza...hence the dreams...and the spirit of the prophet is subject to the prophet. If he makes a miscall then he is not really a prophet.

The man and woman choose each other...I am not sure there is much 'spiritual' about it.

Doubting Rhoni:sshhh

Rhoni, just because it has not been your experience does not mean it is not so.

Praying and fasting is the best way to know.

I have had dreams about my calling, but God has shown others who did not know me that told me about the calling that God has shown. It was just confirmation of what God shows me. I went to a trinitarian church that God used to tell me about my calling, plus He used Apostolics to confirm my calling.

Try praying and fasting to seek God about these things. I can tell you about some things that I have discerned about people and found it to be true. There were things that I thought it was something that I was thinking, but found out that it was discernment. Not all dreams are from God and you have to seek God about it to find out which ones are from Him.

Well, that is why there are Apostolics getting divorced, because they chose each other and didn't allow God to choose their mate. That is why we humans fail miserably, because it is our flesh that chooses and the not allowing God to choose for us.

I believe that there would be less divorces with Apostolics if they allow God to choose the mate that He wants them to have, because God's will is the only sure way to do things. That's why I don't do anything without praying about it and making sure it is God's will. This is something that some Apostolics don't get, but it is so typical.

Amen Bro!!! I have found out by experience that if I do God's will, then things usually go smoothly.

BTW, my son wants God to pick his wife for him, because that is what he believes in, which is so awesome.
