Garden Pools

I guess this could have gone either here in the prepping area or the gardening, but in either case this is what I want to start doing. The guy in the interview was on season 1 of Doomsday Preppers and lives in the same city of Mesa.

Re: Garden Pools

Wow? that would be way cool. Is there any circulation, or is it balanced biologically?

Both. They use circulation pumps to keep pumping the water from the fish pond to the plants and duck weed ponds used for filtration. The chickens also get MOST of their food from the duckweed (although it would not be all since SOME supplemental food would have to be given to both the chickens and fish -you just can't keep "taking" from the garden without giving back eventually).

And it is VERY cool. I really really want to do this! I also love Tilapia!

Re: Garden Pools

Is this sort of the same system that China uses to feed their fish? Seems I've read something about how China feeds their fish with chicken poo.... ? Just wondering.

I never read up on China but I would imagine it is similar. The fish aren't actually eating the chicken poo (OK, they probably ARE eating some of it) but rather the algae that grows from adding the nutrients to the water.
