Two heathens doing something consensual.
The only harm here was that it happened in a public place... ok, there was more harm than that!
The lawmaker has embarassed himself, his family and his constituents.
The best thing he could do is to publicly admit his wrong doing and extremely poor judgment. After that, he should simply resign.

Sinners will be sinners.

Let the church be the church and sinners will see the Light and be converted.

Well, there are pedophiles in both major parties.

Some of our legislatures look upon the Washington Pages as special sex toys provided for them and just one of the perks of serving there.

Priests have looked at altar boys that way for years and Pastors in Protestant Churches (including Apostolic/ Pentecostal/ Holiness churches) have certainly used young people in their youth groups or Sunday School classes or "preacher boys" for their sexual gratification.

That is nothing limited to one political party or to one religious group.

I just fail to understand how a public servant, of all people, would even risk engaging in such activity, especially in this age of surveillance, cell phone cameras, scandal, etc.

It's like the pedophile busts on the hidden camera shows.....I mean, for God's sake, you're an adult, and unless you're living under a rock, you KNOW Chris Hansen is out there filming a TV show about adults seeking minors for sex.....and, yet you do it anyway!!!! And when you're caught, you say "Oh, my God, I had no idea!"

A few years ago in a UPC church in SE Wisconsin a youth pastor sexually molested two young girls. When their parents went to the pastor about it, he told them that they should not say anything to anyone about it because God could forgive the youth pastor. Later, their aunt went to the police and it was investigated. The youth pastor had a record of sexual abuse in another part of the state but there had been no background check when he came to the SE Wisconsin church. I remember writing to this pastor and encouraging him to stop the cover up like the Roman Catholic churches had been doing. Of course I got no response.
