Scott Walker Recall Election

Tomorrow, June 5, 2012 is the recall election in Wisconsin pitting the current Republican Governor against a Democrat challenger.

This election came about when the Governor tried to limit the power of Unions in the state to help get the state budget under control. There was a massive reaction by organized labor who, along with the other usual liberal Democrat troops, spearheaded a recall effort.

As of tonight most polls show the Governor with a slight lead in retaining his office but so close that really the turnout will probably decide the election.

What do you think is going to happen?

If Walker wins is this a foreshadowing of the fall 2012 elections?

If the Dems / Unions win does this mean the country has crossed the Rubicon and is now a liberal country?

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Honestly, I hope Walker loses. My impression of the way he went about doing what he did in Wisconsin is not favorable.

German,

I followed the news closely during all of that and thought he did an amazing job. He was very calm and articulate during animalistic attacks by union thugs climbing through windows at the Capitol, etc.

You ought to dig around and watch and listen to him some. He is a very smart guy and trying to undo the strangle hold public unions and other unions have had on the Wisconsin government which is trying desperately to put its financial house in order.

I read that almost 70% of the union members have drop out of the union since the state stopped collecting the membership dues for the unions. That should be instructive, folks don't care enough for the unions to get the due to them. If Walker wins, other states will use his approach to save the states budgets.

Re: Scott Walker Recall Election

I think as far as Wisconsin goes, if Walker wins it could show that the state is very much in play for Romney in November.

As far as nationwide, I don't think it portends much for November beyond maybe a view to the waning influence of the big unions. I do agree that on a state-by-state basis, a Walker win could encourage other states to take on the unions, as was pointed out earlier in this thread.

Re: Scott Walker Recall Election

I give a standing ovation to the Gov. courage to go against the grain in order to do what needed to be done. We need more like him.

I think despite the polls, his supporters will show up tonight.

I'm not sure if this will have any national affect. I wish it would, if he wins it should be a rally cry. Just not sure it will be heard around the nation.

Re: Scott Walker Recall Election

My dad was a Teamster and my son has been a union member since he was 9 years old so I know unions! Thugs, bullies, etc, etc. They turn decent folks into rock throwing, pipe bomb building zombies.

Unions are truly an example of something that was badly needed 100 years ago and initially served a good purpose. However they evolved into power hungry organizations with no sense of reality.

I hope and pray Walker wins!

The unions are not what they were designed to be originally.

Re: Scott Walker Recall Election

Wisconsin saw a net job growth of 15,000 jobs in Walker's first year.
