Veteran Missionary Retreat

Eddie and I took his mom up to the UPCI Veteran Missionary Retreat in the Lake of the Ozarks area on Tuesday. We went on to St. Louis and then picked her up today to bring her home. There were about 80 missionaries there - some real heroes of the faith.
It was fun reconnecting with so many.......Lattas, Rhodenbushes, Daniel Scotts, Langhams, etc. We got to spend some time with them this afternoon. Eddie got to hang out with Jack Langham for a while - they were both kids in Liberia back in the 60's. They hadn't seen each other in a long time.
I do love my heritage!

Wow. That sounds like a great time. That is a group that I have not seen in quite some time except for the Rodenbushes.

Sounds great!
Sadly, I believe we under-utilize the wisdom and knowledge of our elders.

I was a friend to Elder Jack Langham and his wife. I haven't seen her in awhile I knew she was living close to her son.

Yes, Jackie is really good to her. He had a good time at this retreat, even though he really came for his mom. We looked at old photo albums from Africa; it was very interesting. I think she is 85 now.

Re: Veteran Missionary Retreat

I am jealous. I remember as a little girl wanting to be a missionary to Africa.

I think my wife's family was there... are you sure about the "Lake of the Ozarks"? that is where I live - I did not think it was there, but maybe a different meeting? If you were here and did not come see us well...

Well, maybe that's NOT where we were. Ha! We were outside of Potosi, Missouri. I thought that was Lake of the Ozarks area.
And yes, I think your inlaws were there.

Re: Veteran Missionary Retreat

Right. Some call those hills the beginning of the "Ozarks" region. It's two hrs from us though.
