Have You Changed?

Over the years I've noticed several threads and posts that have stated that forums aren't change agents, and that very few people change their opinions because of things they read here.

I don't believe it.

I take inventory of our original group of posters and see massive changes in theology, doctrine and lifestyle.

I wonder how many of them left standards, or Pentecost, over the past four years?

How about you? Has your participation here changed any of your doctrines?

Re: Have You Changed?

I have indeed changed on the standards issue and have adjusted some details of my beliefs due to chats with well-appreciated forum members here.

I only learned how narrow minded I was. I still go to an Apostolic church, but views have changed toward standards amongst other things.

Re: Have You Changed?

I never believed standards, I tried to convince myself that I did. Forums helped me to be honest with myself about it.

Re: Have You Changed?

I've definitely changed. I didn't believe in standards long before I found FCF, but I've changed my views on the importance of certain doctrinal issues.

Re: Have You Changed?

I feel this forum (along with The-Forum-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named) has been a major factor in changing my life for the better. But, most of all, and truly above all, I credit the convicting power of God to convince me to try my best to do the right thing in all that I do.

Re: Have You Changed?

I believe the same as I always have. I never believed that a dress code was essential to salvation. Dressing modestly is essential. I never believed that trimming or cutting hair would send a woman to hell. I did all of these things out of respect for the leadership of the church I attended.

When I first read stories on this forum about how pastors treated members, and they considered themselves to be victims of spiritual abuse, I found it hard to believe. Now I can be more sympathetic to those who have been there.

When my hair had to be cut for medical reasons, I was beaten over the head and told I was going to hell from behind the pulpit.

My family has quit attending the apostolic church we'd attended for years. I won't get into the details here, but just consider us as another victim where a church killed it's wounded.

We are currently seeking direction on where to go from here.
