Who Was The First Apostle To Die?

That's the question. No googling now.

Heard this on the radio the other day.

Oh, and it's not a trick question.

James the Greater, the brother of John. The sons on thunder as Our Lords affectionately called them. He suffered martyrdom around the year 44 A.D when King Herrod Agrippa had him put to death by the sword. See Acts chapter 12.

Re: Who Was The First Apostle To Die?

It was Stephen.. When they stoned him it almost caused the second coming of Christ, for, the bible states Stephen saw jesus standing, when in fact the bible states He is seated in Heaven.

well i dont agree with this.

cause when judas died he was a disciple, they didnt become apostles until matthew 28, when Jesus sent them out to preach to the world

the word apostle by definition means one who is sent forth as a messenger, in contrast to a disciple who is a "student" that learns from a "teacher"..

though he was numbered as part of the 12 he never was a apostle, at the time he was a disciple, and a crooked one.

so the correct answer would be james

and matthais was the 12, Paul was the 13th
