Re: Welcome Home, David Wilkerson
As a young man I read The Cross & The Switchblade and was greatly moved and inspired.
Here is a link to a short article about his death in a car accident in Texas today. Very few details.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
Quote from Ethel Goss (widow of 1st UPC Gen Supt. Howard Goss) book "The Winds of God"

The Cross and the Switchblade, written in 1963
and
They Speak With Other Tongues published in 1964
were both influential in helping me realize that The House of God is much larger than the little room I was living in

Re: Welcome Home, David Wilkerson
David Wilkerson took a great stand against many of the strange manifestations that plauge various charismatic circles. There was a solidity to his ministry. He did not preach Apostolic truth but I appreciate his stand on certain subjects. That is to be commended.

Re: Welcome Home, David Wilkerson
Look forward to seeing him in heaven!
Is he not also mostly responsible for the Teen Challenge ministries?
