The History Channel

I watch some of the religious documentaries on The History Channel from time to time. While watching one tonight, I noticed two things. One, they are apparently trying to make it more edgy. They are starting to shoot the historians talking in a half clear, half fuzzy way. It took me a couple of shots and rubbing of my eyes to catch it.
Two, when a lot of the program deals with ancient texts, they show the text, and then jerk the camera around the text a lot. Apparently this is supposed to make it look more exciting? I will have to try it myself while reading, hope I don't get dizzy.

Just some things I notice late at night.

Re: The History Channel

I don't watch the History Channel much nor PBS much because they promote a "non-God" agenda from a very humanist standpoint. That's why I stopped supporting PBS several years ago.

Re: The History Channel

The History Channel has gone down the tubes, IMHO. They have entire series that deal with ghost hunting and other "paranormal" lore. That can be interesting material, in the right doses; but just don't call it "History."

They bumped the "Naked Archeologist" over to the History International channel. I don't really like this guy's programming. A lot of people think he "supports the Bible" because of the episodes he did on the Exodus and Sodom. The only problem is he was also at the center of the hype two years ago over the "Tomb of Jesus" and some of the very shifty "archeological" work that was done with that.

In reality, the guy's an ultra-orthodox Jew who loves to say things just to be provocative. Things like calling himself "Naked." He also makes many unsubstantiated claims against the historicity of the Christian faith.

There's too much hype and loud noise on that channel any more. It's sad. Most of the "Discovery Network" and "A&E" branded channels are just drivel.
