...but not in Brazil. They were in Tulsa Sunday night at Jeff Dykes church, so we went! (The whole family.)
It was SOOOOOO enjoyable; both Bro. & Sister Alvear spoke, and they had my full attention the whole time. I love hearing stories about the missions work, and miracles and what a great, faithful God we serve.
Anyway, after church, I introduced the kids to Sister Alvear (Sarah was the most excited about this prospect), and we got to chat for a couple of minutes. Sister Alvear is a total sweetheart, and I could have listened to her tell stories about the mission field for HOURS.
There is NO doubt that the Alvears are completely devoted to the work of the Lord, and I completely appreciate the sacrifices they have made to work in Brazil.
I also appreciated the lively worship and the multi-cultural environment of Bro. Dykes church. We hadn't been there before, but it was a 100% pleasant experience. We had a great time, and the Alvears are going to be in the states a little longer, so if you have a chance to be in service with them somewhere, I encourage you to do so.

I'm SORRY!!!! I should have taken some pictures, but we were just talking, and it never crossed my mind.

I'm coveting! I would love an opportunity to meet Mother A!

We got to be in service with them once. What a blessing it was!!! I would love to have that chance again! Hopefully they will be somewhere close enough while they are in the states that I can attend.

I know you will read this thread so I am asking you here, are you folks going to be in the Nahville area any during this visit?

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
